WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (8/22/19): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 8/22/19. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

After having no WNBA games on Wednesday for some reason, the league is back in action on Thursday with a pair of contests. A surging Wings team heads to Minnesota, while the Fever look to upset that Sparks. What will happen?

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/22/19. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

WNBA - DFS Guards

Arike Ogunbowale (G, Dallas Wings) – @ Minnesota Lynx (DK: $9,500, FD: $7,100)

I'm a broken record when it comes to Arike at this point, but how do you not play her with the kind of volume she's been seeing? Ogunbowale has taken 10 shots or more in 22 consecutive games and in 25 of the 26 games she's played. The only exception was when she played just six minutes against Washington early in the year.

The big knock on her has been efficiency, but she's been converting more of her attempts lately. She's shot over 40 percent from the floor in six of Dallas' last eight games and seems to be figuring out WNBA defenses. She scored 19 on 7-for-12 shooting and added four assists the last time these teams met, and while Ogunbowale's overall ceiling is limited by the fact that she doesn't contribute too much more aside from points, she's a nightly threat to put up 20 or more.

Lexie Brown (G, Minnesota Lynx) – vs Dallas Wings (DK: $4,700, FD: $4,500)

I came close to suggesting Sparks guard Riquna Williams here, who returns after a 10-game suspension, but I have no idea what her role will be yet, so let's pivot to another value option: Lynx guard Lexie Brown.

There's some major recency bias here, but Brown had 20 points on 6-for-14 shooting in her last game while adding three rebounds and a pair of assists. Her minutes have been inconsistent, but if head coach Cheryl Reeve wants to ride the hot hand in a game where her team will need to manufacture offense against a pretty good Wings defense, I can see Brown getting some good run off the bench. Lot of risk involved here and someone like Tiffany Mitchell is a pricier but safer option, but I'm willing to take the risk.

WNBA - DFS Forwards

Candace Parker (F, Los Angeles Sparks) – vs Indiana Fever (DK: $10,100 FD: $7,800)

Well, Candace Parker is back. It seemed like she was perpetually rusty after making her season debut back in late June and then missing a big part of July, but against Minnesota on Tuesday Parker had 20 points and 10 boards and looked like her old self. She faces an Indiana team that just allowed a huge game to another versatile big, New York's Tina Charles, and I expect Parker to continue playing at the level we saw on Tuesday.

Teaira McCowan (F, Indiana Fever) – @ Los Angeles Sparks (DK: $7,600, FD: $6,000)

While I still don't fully understand some of the lineup choices in Indiana, I do understand that McCowan is hot right now, scoring in double figures in three straight games while grabbing at least seven boards in each of those games. On Thursday, she faces a Sparks team that's allowing 32.4 points in the paint per game over the last five games, which should help McCowan get some easy buckets on the interior. We also can't underestimate the fact that after losing to New York, Indiana is now 3-7 in their last 10 games and on the verge of officially falling out of the playoff picture. They need to play Teaira McCowan more. They will play her more. She will be a double-double machine the rest of the way. Let's put that energy out there, y'all!
