WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (8/16/19): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 8/16/19. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

It's a busy night in the WNBA as we have five games in action. That's a lot of basketball to keep track of, especially when four of those games are in the early window. Dream/Mercury is the only late game of the night, and that one features a Britney Griner-less Phoenix squad. Three of the other four games feature a meeting of teams who are currently in the playoff picture, while the Liberty visit Dallas in the other matchup.

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/16/19. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

WNBA - DFS Guards

Chelsea Gray (G, Los Angeles Sparks) – @ Chicago Sky (DK: $9,800, FD: $7,500)

Gray's had back-to-back 20-point games, and has scored in double figures in 10 straight outings. She's also dished out at least five assists in seven straight games. Friday's opponent, the Chicago Sky, are allowing the second-most points per game in the WNBA this season and the fifth-most assists per game. That should bode well for Gray to another strong performance, especially when you consider her 26-point, six-assist game when she faced Chicago earlier in the month.

Jasmine Thomas (G, Connecticut Sun) – vs Seattle Storm (DK: $8,000, FD: $6,600)

Thomas has taken 26 shots over the past two games, including 11 three-pointers. That kind of rise in shooting volume is always worth noticing. So is the fact that Seattle's best perimeter defender, Jordin Canada, is questionable with a shoulder injury. While Canada did miss the last meeting between these teams and Thomas struggled immensely in that game, I don't think that's indicative of how this one will go, since it's been a while since the that game. There's risk with Thomas, but I like the price she's going at.

WNBA - DFS Forwards

Brianna Turner (F, Phoenix Mercury) – vs Atlanta Dream (DK: $6,300, FD: $5,200)

With Griner suspended, Turner's stepped into the starting lineup for the Mercury. The rookie had has surpassed the 20-minute mark in five straight games, and assuming she doesn't get in foul trouble, she's a lock to play 30-plus minutes on Friday. Against a strong Connecticut Sun defense, Turner had 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. She had 11 rebounds against Dallas and 14 against the Sparks. Turner's incredibly undervalued on DFS sites right now, and a meeting with an Atlanta Dream team that's struggled on both ends of the floor this year is a good chance for Turner to put up big numbers again.

Rebecca Allen (F, New York Liberty) – @ Dallas Wings (DK: $6,200, FD: $5,800)

With Amanda Zahui B unlikely to play due to a concussion, Allen's going to see significant run at the four for the Liberty in this one. She's scored 20 or more points twice in her WNBA career, and both times happen to have been in the past three games for New York. She's been shooting the lights out from long distance and scoring efficiently inside as well. The Liberty have to find offense somewhere, and Allen's a really good option to be one of those sources of offense.
