WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (8/14/19): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 8/14/19. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

We have three games in the WNBA on Wednesday night, including the first game for the Mercury after Brittney Griner's three-game suspension. In addition, the Storm visit the Mystics and the Sparks are in Dallas. It's an interesting slate of games that doesn't really have a marquee matchup, since injuries have slowed Seattle and Phoenix,

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/14/19. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

WNBA - DFS Guards

DeWanna Bonner (G, Phoenix Mercury) – vs Connecticut Sun (DK: $11,000, FD: $8,100)

Yeah, I know the Sun have a really good defense. I also know that the Mercury won't have Brittney Griner in tis one as she's serving a three-game suspension and that someone has to take on some of her offensive load. Bonner's scored under 20 points for three straight games, but I expect a scoring explosion from her in this one because...well, who else is going to lead the Mercury in scoring? Bonner's also been rebounding well, so a night with 10 or more boards feels within reach as well.

Arike Ogunbowale (G, Dallas Wings) – vs Los Angeles Sparks (DK: $9,000, FD: $6,700)

I talk a lot about opportunity, and almost no one's gotten more opportunities this year to score than the Wings rookie. In four games this month, she's taken at least 12 shots in each, including 19 attempts against Vegas and 18 against the Mercury. Yes, by playing Ogunbowale you're living with the fact that she's been a low-percentage shooter, but the pure mass of her attempts should lead to strong scoring numbers. We've also seen a slight uptick in her assist numbers, and she's gotten at least one steal in five straight games.

WNBA - DFS Forwards

Aerial Powers (F, Washington Mystics) – vs Seattle Storm (DK: $7,200, FD: $6,100)

With Kristi Toliver out, Powers moved into the Mystics' starting five last game and delivered, putting up 20 points on 6-for-10 shooting while also grabbing five rebounds. She played 36 minutes in that game. Powers has had a strong one the last time she faced this Seattle team, scoring 12 points and adding a pair of assists and pair of rebounds off the bench. In a larger role this time around, I expect Powers to easily surpass her numbers from the last meeting with Seattle and for the end result to look a lot more like her game against Minnesota on the 11th did.

Mercedes Russell (F, Seattle Storm) – @ Washington Mystics (DK: $6,800, FD: $5,300)

In terms of under-the-radar value options in this slate, I like Russell, in large part because I haven't been comfortable trusting the Mystics defense to really do much this year. Over the last five games, they're allowing the third-most points per game, and while in the last meeting between these teams Russell was limited to seven points and four rebounds, she's gotten 30-plus DraftKings and FanDuel points in two of her last three games. Russell's been rebounding well and has been adding in some really good assist numbers from her position, and I see Wednesday's game being another successful one for her.
