After an injury-riddled season with the Arizona Cardinals, Marquise Brown was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs, and will now join Patrick Mahomes and one of the best offenses in the NFL.
Unfortunately for Brown and his fantasy managers, and perhaps to the surprise of no one, Brown picked up another injury, and managers should be looking for an update on his status.
Will "Hollywood" play against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 for the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night? Let's dive into his injury and its impacts.

Marquise Brown Fantasy Football Injury Update
Brown picked up a shoulder joint separation injury in Week 1 of the preseason and has not practiced since. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid indicated previously that Brown would not play in Week 1, but he made the news official Wednesday morning, ruling Brown as "out."

Brown picked up his injury on the above play when a Jaguars defender made a tackle. Presumably, the weight of the defender on his shoulder caused a joint to separate. Now, Brown will not play in the season opener on Thursday against the Ravens.

It is unknown how much time he will miss with this injury. This should concern fantasy owners, as Brown has a long history of missing time due to injury, and this is the latest of an extensive list of injuries that have impacted Brown.
Marquise Brown Fantasy Football Injury Impact
For the time being, Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy could see an uptick in targets while Hollywood is out. With Worthy as a field-stretcher, Kelce and Brown working the middle/intermediate of the field, and Rice catching short-yardage and screen passes primarily, it's possible Kelce stands to benefit the most.
However, Reid's offense is unpredictable, and typically Mahomes spreads the ball around. It's unclear who may get more targets due to Brown's absence. However, it's reasonable to expect a slight boost to KC's presumed top-3 receiving options (Kelce, Rice, and Worthy).
When Brown returns, assuming he's back to full strength and not playing as a "decoy," those three pass-catchers' volume could decrease slightly. Brown will still have value when he returns, as Reid and Mahomes have authored explosive offenses, and last year's fantasy mediocrity was the exception rather than the rule.
