Will Brandon Aiyuk Be Traded? Top-3 Landing Spots For Aiyuk This Offseason

Brandon Aiyuk - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News

Will San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk be traded this offseason? Joey dives into the potential landing spots for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Since being drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has established himself as a top playmaker in the league. He has totaled at least 75 catches and 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons.

In 2023, Aiyuk totaled 75 catches for a career-high 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. However, the 26-year-old is in the final year of his rookie deal after the 49ers picked up his fifth-year option.

So, could Aiyuk be traded this offseason? Which teams would be good fits? Let's dive in and find out.

Will Brandon Aiyuk Be Traded?

There has been growing frustration for Aiyuk dating back to earlier this offseason. The former Arizona State product wants a new contract and has voiced his frustrations with the organization.

On Tuesday, Aiyuk officially requested a trade from the 49ers following stalled contract talks. The 26-year-old wants a new contract before the season starts, and it appears San Francisco is not quite ready to pay him yet. Despite requesting a trade, though, there's still a chance the wideout doesn't get dealt.

A similar situation played out with Deebo Samuel Sr. a few years back. Samuel requested a trade in April 2022, but the 49ers wound up signing him to a three-year extension in late July. Nonetheless, if Aiyuk does get moved, there are likely plenty of teams that will try to trade for him.

Which Teams Would Be Good Fits For Aiyuk?

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in desperate need of another wide receiver alongside George Pickens in the passing game. After trading away Diontae Johnson, the Steelers could make a move for the explosive playmaker. Having Aiyuk and Pickens as Russell Wilson's top-2 targets could help the team big time in 2024.

Washington Commanders

If the 49ers wideout had the choice to go anywhere he wanted, he would choose to go to Washington. Jayden Daniels was just drafted by the Commanders, and Aiyuk goes way back with him -- dating back to their college days at Arizona State. His arrival would also help Daniels' development, so this appears to be the most likely landing spot for him.

Buffalo Bills

This one might be a long shot because the Bills would need to pay Aiyuk if they trade for him. However, the Bills definitely need a WR1 after they traded away Stefon Diggs this offseason. If they can make it work, this would be the best fantasy landing spot for the 26-year-old wideout. He would operate as Josh Allen's top target in the passing game.
