Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Wild Card Weekend:
Colston Loveland, TE, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland put together a fantastic regular season, recording 58 receptions (82 targets) for a team-leading 713 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 16 games. Loveland paced the Bears' passing game in Week 18's loss to the Lions, bringing in 10 of 13 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown. The budding star continued his late-season surge and is trending favorably heading into Chicago's Wild-Card matchup against the division-rival Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay has allowed the 13th-most catches per game (5.6) and the sixth-fewest yards per game (44.9) to tight ends this season, with Loveland totaling seven catches for 59 yards and a touchdown in their two regular-season meetings. Receiver Rome Odunze (foot) is expected to return on Saturday after missing the previous five games, which could take some targets away from Loveland. The 21-year-old Loveland still profiles as one of the best tight end options for fantasy managers in playoff leagues and should be in all lineups.
Ladd McConkey, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey is in desperate need of a bounce-back performance. McConkey has struggled to put up any consistent numbers during the second half of the season. The 24-year-old has been held to under 40 receiving yards in six of his last seven games. It's not going to get easier for McConkey against the New England Patriots' defense on the road during the Wild-Card round on Sunday night.
The Patriots' defense is in the top 10 in terms of limiting passing yards. They've also done an excellent job of holding the WR1 on opposing teams in check all season long. McConkey has been much harder to trust in Year 2 in fantasy, and that will continue to be the case this weekend.
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley finished the 2025 season with 1,413 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns on 317 total attempts. After totaling nearly 2,300 scrimmage yards in 2024, Barkley regressed, dropping from 5.8 yards per carry to 4.1 this season. Despite the Eagles' offensive struggles this season, they are in the playoffs and hosting the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card Round.
The 49ers allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to running backs this season, and injuries to their defensive line and linebackers should open up lanes for Barkley. The defending champions relied heavily on their star running back in last year's Super Bowl run, and they are expected to do the same as they chase back-to-back Super Bowl titles.
TreVeyon Henderson, RB, New England Patriots
Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson carried the ball 13 times for 53 yards in Sunday's blowout win over the Dolphins, finding the end zone twice in a game that saw most of New England's starters sidelined early in the fourth quarter. Henderson finishes his rookie campaign with 911 rushing yards, 221 receiving yards, and 10 total touchdowns.
The Patriots face a stingy Chargers defense in Wild Card Weekend, but Henderson's homerun ability and steadily increasing usage near the goal line make him a strong opening play in playoff fantasy leagues of all formats. New England has averaged 35 rush attempts over their last two games and will likely look to stick to that formula in a game in which it opens as a 3.5-point favorite at home.
Stefon Diggs, WR, New England Patriots
Across 17 games in 2025, New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns on 102 targets. In his first season with the Patriots, the 32-year-old proved he can still be one of the most reliable possession receivers in the NFL. However, just a few days before Week 18, Diggs was charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. Diggs played in Week 18 and is expected to be active for New England's Wild Card Weekend matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Still, he's scheduled to be arraigned on January 23, so his outlook for later in the playoffs could be murkier. As long as Diggs is on the field, he profiles as one of the top wide receiver options for fantasy managers in PPR-scoring playoff leagues.
