Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football waiver wire outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider adding off waivers in Week 4:
Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell scored his first touchdown of 2025 in Week 3, finishing the game with 26 yards from scrimmage and a score on five total touches.
Gainwell scored on a one-yard run after the lead Steelers back Jaylen Warren was stopped on consecutive goal-to-go opportunities. Gainwell has just 85 yards from scrimmage on 23 total touches through Pittsburgh's first three games, so he's still only fantasy-relevant as a handcuff option to Warren.
Still, he's clearly ahead of Steelers rookie Kaleb Johnson on the backfield depth chart, and Gainwell should be added where available in all PPR-scoring leagues with 12 or more teams.
Tyquan Thornton WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton led the team in targets, catches, and receiving yards in Kansas City's 22-9 win over the New York Giants in Week 3. Thornton was targeted nine times and finished with five catches for 71 yards and a touchdown. The 25-year-old has now recorded nine catches for 171 yards and two scores through the first three games of 2025.
With Xavier Worthy (shoulder) and Rashee Rice (suspension) on the sidelines, Thornton has emerged as the Chiefs' WR1 over the past two weeks. Worthy is likely to return in Week 4, which could eat into Thornton's workload.
Tyquan Thornton may have passed veteran wideout Marquise Brown on the depth chart and is still worth adding in deep fantasy leagues heading into a Week 4 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Colston Loveland, TE, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears rookie first-round tight end Colston Loveland's hip injury is not believed to be serious, and he's expected to have a chance to play in Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders, a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN. Loveland had his best game of the year in the 31-14 blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday before injuring his hip, catching one of his three targets for a 31-yard gain.
In the first two games of his rookie campaign, the 21-year-old had only two grabs on three targets for 12 yards. He has plenty of downfield playmaking ability, but so far, Chicago hasn't gotten him involved. Loveland will have a shot to play in Week 4 if he's able to practice, but he'll strictly be a TE2 with upside for fantasy managers if he's able to play.
If Loveland cannot play against Vegas, Cole Kmet would be a TE streaming option. Kmet scored his first touchdown of the year on his only catch on Sunday.
Chris Rogriguez Jr., WAS, Commanders
Although Washington Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. wasn't all that efficient (3.5 yards per carry) in his 2025 debut in the team's 41-24 blowout win over the visiting Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, he did lead the team with 11 carries. Rodriguez was a healthy scratch the first two weeks, but he was elevated to the active roster for Week 3 after Austin Ekeler tore his Achilles in Week 2.
The 24-year-old ran for 39 yards on his 11 carries and was not utilized in the passing game. Rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt was second on the team with eight carries, and he, too, was inefficient with just 26 yards on the ground. Jeremy McNichols and quarterback Marcus Mariota combined for 10 rushing attempts and two touchdowns against the Raiders.
Croskey-Merritt has the most upside in the Commanders' backfield moving forward with Ekeler done for the year, but Rodriguez is worth a waiver-wire pickup if you have JCM rostered or are looking for RB depth. Rodriguez is currently rostered in only 5% of Yahoo leagues.
