Who Should I Draft?

Who Should I Draft? 2026 Fantasy Baseball Tool

Navigating your fantasy baseball draft is often more challenging and requires more strategy than your fantasy football draft. Unlike fantasy football, fantasy baseball teams often consist of nearly 15 hitter lineup spots with an additional 10-12 pitcher spots, making draft-day decisions even tougher.

During your draft, you may find yourself torn between targeting a high-end catcher but also needing depth in your rotation or especially outfield, since your league requires five starters. When playing in a category league, questions arise when you are falling behind in stolen bases, but see a high-end power bat falling down your draft board.

Additionally, with the increased parity in today’s game of baseball, navigating these difficult questions makes draft day much tougher than expected.

However, managers can find answers to those “coin-flip” draft day decisions with our Who Should I Draft Tool. Need help in the middle rounds when trying to decide to take the high-power, low batting average hitter, or to bolster your stolen base totals? This is the fantasy baseball tool for you.

 2026 Fantasy Baseball Player Comparisons

As noted before, this fantasy baseball tool assists managers in making those “coin-flip” draft day decisions, providing data and projections with each draft recommendation. While your ideal draft choice will likely be based on your current roster construction, our Who Should I Draft tool helps managers compare up to four players at a time.

After selecting the four players (or fewer), users can view each player's statistics from the prior season, recent news, their current positioning in our points and rotisserie RotoBaller rankings, and, more importantly, their 2026 projections. While the draft recommendations tool will highlight the highest-ranked players, this additional information allows managers to view this tough decision from all angles by taking projections and previous career production into account.

Expert Rankings and Projections for 2026

Instead of having to navigate several different tabs and worksheets during your draft, the Who Should I Start Tool should be viewed as a “one-stop” shop for all your difficult draft day decisions. This fantasy baseball tool allows users to view a given player’s projections, previous career statistics, current 2026 ADP, and their placement in our RotoBaller rankings.

For example, if a fantasy manager was sitting at the back end of the opening round and unsure whether to draft either Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz or outfielder Kyle Tucker, this Who Should I Draft tool would point them in the right direction.

When searching for these two high-end players, managers would immediately find the information they need to make this decision. In the draft recommendations section, managers would see that Tucker is significantly higher in our category league RotoBaller rankings and much higher in our points league RotoBaller rankings. Additionally, Tucker’s 2026 ADP is nearly five picks higher, suggesting the consensus fantasy baseball community views Tucker as a high-end asset.

On the next tab, “Stats and Projections”, users would see that while Kurtz is projected to hit more home runs, Tucker is a far more valuable “all-around” asset given his higher projected batting average and nearly 20 more stolen bases.

Using Advanced Sabermetrics to Draft

In the “Stats and Projections” tab, users can find various base and advanced statistics to help them make their decision. Near the top of the projections section, managers can see what “base” statistics a given player is expected to hit in the upcoming season. In the previous example, Tucker projects to be a high-end five-category contributor for the upcoming season, given that he is projected to finish in the 20/20 club with nearly 90 runs and 90 RBI.

However, Kurtz is more of a high-end four-category option as he only projects a handful of stolen bases, but possesses much higher power upside, given his hefty 36 expected round-trippers.

Additionally, users can also identify several advanced sabermetrics within the draft recommendations section. On the hitter side, fantasy managers can see a player's wOBA from the previous season, which stands for Weighted On-Base Average. This advanced metric is designed to identify a player’s overall offensive value per plate appearance.

In his rookie season, Kurtz was a league-winner, and his underlying metrics back up his dominant season. Per the Who Should I Draft Tool, Kurtz generated an eye-catching .423 wOBA in his first taste of the big leagues, which shows the massive impact he made in 2025.

When looking at our projections sections, several advanced metrics such as barrel% for hitters (measures the percentage of batted balls that are classified as barrels) and Stuff+ for pitchers, which attempts to measure the raw talent of a pitcher, through analyzing pitch velocity, movements, and extensions, instead of looking at their raw base statistics.

Draft Strategy: Roto vs. Points Leagues

While analyzing projections is a major component of making those “coin-flip” draft-day decisions, understanding your league's scoring is another. Fortunately, our Who Should I Draft Tool allows managers to easily switch between “roto” scoring and “points” scoring when on the page.

In our example, Tucker carries a slightly higher value in roto leagues compared to Kurtz. However, if a user were in a points league, they would see a drastically different result. When users click the “Points” section of our fantasy baseball tool, they see that Tucker has a significantly higher RotoBaller ranking in this format than Kurtz.

While Kurtz still possesses just as much power upside on a per-game basis, his plate discipline hinders his value. In his debut season, the 22-year-old generated an elite 12.9% BB% but also struck out at a higher 30.9% rate. Since points leagues deduct points after a strikeout, Kurtz does not carry the same top-15 upside as he would in a standard roto league.

Analyzing 2026 Positional Scarcity

The final factor to consider when navigating difficult draft-day decisions is positional scarcity. While this concept does come into play in fantasy football, it is essential to mastering fantasy baseball. With managers having to fill a complete lineup that features up to six infield positions and five outfield positions, managers will need to understand which positions are “deeper” than others.

In our Who Should I Draft Tool, managers can see RotoBaller rankings for each position, directly below the results after selecting players. When looking at shortstops, managers can see that there are nearly 12 options that are worthy of a top-100 pick, suggesting that this position is immensely deep heading into the 2026 regular season.

However, not all positions are equal. When looking at third base, managers will see just seven total players going within the top-100 picks based on the current 2026 ADP. As a result, managers should be far more aggressive when drafting third basemen early on, as this position begins to thin out much sooner than others.

Real-Time 2026 ADP Trends and Updates

The Who Should I Draft Tool also provides fantasy managers with real-time updated 2026 ADP when offering draft recommendations. This fantasy baseball tool is updated to reflect recent 2026 ADP trends and our RotoBaller rankings. Users can identify if a player is falling in our rankings and who is emerging as a sleeper candidate in the later rounds of the draft.

This is an excellent tool for mock drafts, as it can help you anticipate which players will be available at specific picks.
