Where Should You Russell Wilson for 2022? Fantasy Football Outlook

russell wilson fantasy football rankings NFL injury news DFS picks

Where should I draft Russell Wilson for 2022 fantasy football? What is the fantasy football outlook for Wilson now that he's on the Broncos?

After 10 years of playing in Seattle, Russell Wilson was traded this season. How will that affect his fantasy football value in 2022?

The Seattle Seahawks acquired two first-round picks, the ninth pick in 2022 and a 2023 first rounder. Two-second round picks, the 40th overall this year and 2023 second rounder. Seattle also received tight end Noah Fant, quarterback Drew Lock and defensive end Shelby Harris.

The Denver Broncos acquired Wilson and fourth round pick of the 2022 draft. That pick for the Broncos was defensive end Eyioma Uwazurike from Iowa State. Now let's take a look at his 2022 fantasy outlook.

Russell Wilson's Move To Denver in 2022

Now that Wilson is in Denver, he solidified his status with a five-year $245 million contract extension. The deal includes $165 million guaranteed.

Wilson got paid. Does that change your fantasy draft status?

Where is Russell Wilson Being Drafted?

Wilson’s current draft status is QB11. He is going behind Tom Brady (QB8) and Aaron Rodgers (QB9). If you are in a 12-man league, Wilson is going roughly in the mid sixth to the seventh round. If you are lucky.

That’s way too low for Wilson and here is why. Per Fantasy Pros he has the fifth easiest schedule for quarterbacks. He is going from “run the ball” Pete Carroll to “I have made Aaron Rodgers two-time MVP” Nathaniel Hackett as his head coach.

Where Should I Draft Russell Wilson for Fantasy Football?

Russell Wilson has wide receivers Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, and running backs Javonte Williams, and Melvin Gordon as his weapons. Compared to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett as his only legitimate weapons in Seattle.

And then there is Wilson himself. Since 2014, Wilson has had five finishes as a top-six fantasy quarterback. Until he injured his finger last season, he was leading the NFL in yards per attempt (10.4) while having a passer rating of 133.6 (also league leading). He finished the season with 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 183 yards with two rushing touchdowns.

Finally, his offensive line is better. Per Pro Football Focus, the Seahawks offensive line ranked 26th in pass-blocking last season. The Broncos ranked ninth. This season the offensive line in Denver starts off ranked 16th, while Seattle is 32nd

Wilson is in a position to excel. That he played well for fantasy purposes under less ideal circumstances should have your fantasy senses tingling for a fantasy draft steal.
