Where Do I Draft Courtland Sutton For Fantasy Football?

Courtland Sutton - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Where do I draft wide receiver Courtland Sutton for fantasy football? Should you draft the wideout in the later rounds? Joey Pollizze provides a fantasy football outlook for Sutton.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton was a hot commodity in the middle round of fantasy drafts last season. Nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson came over from the Seattle Seahawks, so managers expected a big fantasy boost for Sutton.

However, Sutton turned in a mediocre year after the Broncos finished 2022 with one of the worst offenses. The 2023 season, though, could be different for the wideout and Denver's offense with the arrival of head coach Sean Payton.

Where do I draft Sutton? Is he worth a pick in fantasy leagues? Let's take a look.

Courtland Sutton's 2022 Season

Fantasy managers expected much more from the Broncos' wideout last season. Still, it wasn't a horrible year for Sutton. The former Pro Bowler had 64 catches for 829 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games.

Sutton finished as the WR43 in PPR formats in 2022 while averaging 10.6 PPR points per game. The wideout surprisedly finished below players like Curtis Samuel (WR33), Allen Lazard (WR35), Joshua Palmer (WR37), and Donovan Peoples-Jones (WR39) in PPR formats.

If you wanted a high floor/ low ceiling wideout, Sutton was that type of player. In 15 games last season, the 27-year-old wideout had 10 games above 10 PPR fantasy points. He also had zero games above 20 PPR fantasy points and only three games above 15 PPR points.

Where Do I Draft Courtland Sutton in 2023?

Unlike last year, Sutton is going much later in drafts in 2023. His ADP on Sleeper is currently 111.2 and 112.4 on ESPN. That puts him around the ninth to 10th round in 10-12 non-Superflex leagues. At that price, he's certainly worth the gamble on a Broncos offense that is expected to be better in 2023.

Sutton is also looking like his 2019 self so far during training camp, which could be big for his fantasy value. During that 2019 season, the Broncos' wideout made a Pro Bowl appearance, caught a career-high 72 passes for 1,112 yards, and finished as the WR19 in PPR formats.

Simply put, the Broncos offense was awful last season. They averaged the lowest points (16.9) in the league, and Sutton still provided somewhat of a consistent production. If Denver's offense takes a slight jump in 2023, the 27-year-old should see much more fantasy opportunities. His fantasy production will likely depend on Wilson's improvement in the passing game. If that happens, we could see the former Pro Bowler creep into WR3 territory.
