When Will Giancarlo Stanton Return and Be Back? Fantasy Baseball Injury Update

Giancarlo Stanton - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

When will Giancarlo Stanton return and play? Will Giancarlo Stanton be back again this season? Read the latest fantasy baseball Giancarlo Stanton injury updates and return date for Week 14 of the 2024 MLB season.

New York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton was removed early from Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves due to left hamstring tightness.

The 34-year-old slugger looked to be in pain as he attempted to score from second base, and he underwent imaging the following day.

This is not a promising sign, as Stanton has been limited by injuries throughout his time with the Yankees and could now miss an extended period this summer. Manager Aaron Boone said after the game that he expects Stanton to miss "days."

Giancarlo Stanton Injury Update for Fantasy Baseball

On June 23, Stanton was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring strain. In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled infielder Oswald Peraza from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Meredith Marakovits of the YES Network reported that the Yankees expect Stanton to miss around four weeks which sets him up for a potential return date around the end of July.

While the injury does not seem severe, the 34-year-old should not be expected back on the diamond until at least after the All-Star Break.

Giancarlo Stanton Fantasy Baseball Outlook

Stanton has served as the everyday designated hitter in the Bronx this season and has posted a solid .246/.302/.492 with 18 long balls and 45 RBI through 69 games.

His underlying metrics look quite strong, with a 54.1% hard-hit rate, 19.4% barrel rate, and 94.3 mph average exit velocity, which place him in the top 97th, 100th, and 98th percentile among all qualified hitters, respectively.

While Stanton is sidelined, Aaron Judge should be expected to see more time as the designated hitter, which will open more starts in center field for Trent Grisham. When Judge is playing center field, rookie Ben Rice and newly acquired J.D. Davis are strong candidates to see time as the designated hitter.
