Chris Godwin Injury Update
The veteran wideout was able to return to practice last week and is nearing a return. Seeing that the team did not opt to place Godwin on the injured reserve suggests that they did not expect him to miss a significant portion of the first half of the season.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that a Week 4 return is a "real possibility" for the 29-year-old pass catcher. While Godwin made a strong case to return last weekend when the Buccaneers hosted the Jets, another week of practice should put him in a great position to be cleared to face the Eagles in Week 4.
Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his status during the team's practices this week. If he can operate in full participation this week, he should not face many restrictions in their contest against the Eagles this weekend.

Chris Godwin Fantasy Football Outlook
With Godwin on the verge of a return, fantasy managers should expect him to carry mid-end WR2 value in all formats going forward.
With Mike Evans suffering a hamstring injury in their Week 3 victory and slated to miss time, Godwin should immediately step into a significant role in the offense. While rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka has looked very comfortable in the offense, Godwin will see a large share of targets with Evans off the field.
In 2024, Godwin became Baker Mayfield's go-to option in the slot as he saw an impressive 8.9 targets per game over the first seven games. During this stretch, Godwin averaged 7.1 receptions per game with 19.7 PPR points per game. He found the back of the end zone five times and tallied a stellar 82.3 yards per game.
While Godwin's outlook could be slightly lower once Evans returns in a few weeks, for now, Godwin should remain a must-start WR2 in all formats. He could even push for top-12 finishes in PPR leagues on a weekly basis, given his role as the primary slot receiver.
Even though the Buccaneers have three difficult matchups coming up, facing defenses that have allowed the 16th, second, and sixth fewest PPR points to opposing WRs, respectively (Eagles, Seahawks, 49ers), Godwin will carry must-status once he is cleared to return.
