When Will Brandin Cooks Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 10 (2024)

Brandin Cooks - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

When will Brandin Cooks return and play? Will Brandin Cooks be back again this season? Read the latest Brandin Cooks injury updates and return date for Week 10 (2024).

The Dallas Cowboys' No. 2 wide receiver, Brandin Cooks, has been out for four games with an injury, leaving a gap in their passing attack. He was placed on injured reserve and missed valuable game time, but also had a bye week. Cooks is now eligible to return for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, a welcome possibility for the Cowboys as they face their NFC East rival.

The veteran player's absence has impacted the Cowboys' offense, especially with injuries now plaguing other key players. Quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss time due to a hamstring issue, and CeeDee Lamb is managing a shoulder injury. Cooks' potential return comes as the team looks to regroup for a crucial divisional matchup.

With these recent updates, fantasy managers are eager to know when the wideout will return to the field and how effective he might be. Let's examine the latest information and outlook for Brandin Cooks' return.

Brandin Cooks Injury Update

The Oregon State product has been out of action for four games after being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, limiting his early season impact. Currently, he is eligible to return, and Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy indicated that Cooks is "feeling better." However, McCarthy has not confirmed whether the 31-year-old will be ready to suit up on Sunday against the Eagles.

Tommy Yarish of DallasCowboys.com reported McCarthy's statement, leaving Cooks' availability unclear but still possible.

Before his injury, Cooks saw 19 targets, converting them into nine receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown. However, he struggled to connect consistently with Prescott, so his fantasy output has been modest.

The shift to backup quarterback Cooper Rush further complicates Cooks's outlook, as Rush will likely bring a different dynamic to the Cowboys' passing game. Fantasy managers will want to watch the Cowboys' injury reports as Sunday approaches to gauge the wide receiver's game status.

Brandin Cooks Fantasy Football Outlook

If the wideout returns this week, his first game comes under less-than-ideal circumstances for fantasy managers. Jalen Tolbert, who performed admirably in the veteran's absence, could continue to see involvement in the game plan, making it challenging for Cooks to make an immediate impact. Dallas also just traded to receive Jonathan Mingo from the New England Patriots.

Fantasy managers should avoid starting the 2014 draft pick in his first game back, given the uncertainties around his health and quarterback situation. However, if you are in a deep league or need a flex option, monitor his status closely.

If Cooks is active and you decide to start him, temper your expectations, as his role may be more limited until he fully finds his groove. While he could be a good asset to have later in the season, caution is recommended for Week 10.
