When Will Anthony Richardson Return and Be Back? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 6 (2024)

Anthony Richardson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL News

When will Anthony Richardson return? Will Anthony Richardson be back again this season? Read the latest Anthony Richardson injury updates for Week 6 (2024).

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) received a massive amount of hype coming into the 2024 NFL season. His combination of speed, acceleration, size, and arm strength are all elite, and fantasy managers were excited, despite him missing most of the 2023 season with a shoulder injury.

Outside of Week 1, Richardson has been a big disappointment. He's totaled 577 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and six interceptions along with 141 rushing yards and one touchdown. He's completed just 51% of his passes and is far from his four rushing touchdowns in 2023.

To make things worse, Richardson has been hurt yet again. He didn't play in Week 5. When will Anthony Richardson return and be back for the Colts?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Anthony Richardson Injury Update

Richardson stated that he's feeling "way better," and that he can do everything needed at the quarterback position. He said he can run and throw again, and while his status for Week 6 is still up in the air, it's good to see him making progress. If he does miss Week 6, he shouldn't be out much longer.

Richardson also reiterated that it's a day-by-day situation, meaning he's not entirely out of the woods yet. Fantasy managers should stay updated on his situation and have their backup plans in place in case he can't go. Indy's backup quarterback, Joe Flacco, is a great option and will get the start if Richardson can't go.

Anthony Richardson Fantasy Football Outlook

The second-year pro hasn't had the same rushing touchdown upside he showed in 2023. Running back Jonathon Taylor, meanwhile, has four rushing touchdowns. At least this early in the season, it appears that Taylor's presence heavily caps his quarterback's upside in the red zone, which hurts Richardson's fantasy value.

Add to that his struggles in the passing game and it's tough to view him as a QB1. If A-Rich turns it around, he certainly is, but for now, he's firmly in QB2 range, and it's tough to start him in single-QB fantasy leagues. If he plays, he's a must-start in Superflex leagues though.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen is an elite offensive mind, his team has a great offensive line, and there are solid receivers in Josh Downs, Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, and Adonai Mitchell. The potential is certainly there, but whether it's due to injury or lack of experience, ARich's production isn't up to par yet.

He should still be rostered, though, and we can't forget what he did in 2023. The caveat, however, is the reality that dating back to his college days at Florida, Richardson has only started one full season as a quarterback in the last four years. Patience will be required.
