Wei-Yin Chen (SP, MIA) - Week 25 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 14% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Miami Marlins starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen looks like one of the more impressive midseason bounce backs of the 2018 season. After an ugly 16 starts through the months of May, June, and July in which he produced a 6.26 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 77.2 IP, Chen is 4-3 with a 3.11 ERA in the second half, striking out at least six batters in each of the last three starts.

It is tough to imagine that we would be in 2018 talking about Chen as a matchup winner, but he has not allowed more than three runs in a start since the beginning of August. His .224 BABIP is not great (and his 75.8% strand rate is a little lucky as well), but the strikeouts and run prevention are both good enough in deeper leagues.

A Friday start in Philadelphia does not look like a great one for Chen, but the Phillies offense has stalled and they are very strikeout prone. A start on September 21 against the Reds is not great either, but Chen's good run of form makes him a solid addict in deeper leagues.
