Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups - Running Backs (RB)

We've already given you our waiver wire quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends.  Below I will highlight some running backs (RBs) that are recommended fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 8 of the 2013 fantasy football season, and your fantasy football rosters.  Let's win some leagues!

Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 8 Running Backs

Editor's Note: The FFPC Playoff Challenge #2 is back with a massive $100,000 grand prize and $203,250 total prize pool, paying down to 100th place. Here's the deal: no salary cap, no draft, no pickups, no subs. Choose 8 players, and as NFL teams get knocked out so will your players, so choose your team wisely. The entries will sell out quickly, and registrations will close on Saturday January 17th at 4:30 pm ET . Don't wait - get your team now and end your fantasy football season with a shot at $100,000! Helu 2012Roy Helu, Jr. - Washington Redskins

Baller Move: Add in Deeper Leagues and All PPR Leagues
Analysis: Helu likely will not match his three-touchdown performance again this year, but his role has increased over the past few weeks, touchdowns aside. He is the passing-down RB for the Redskins, as Alfred Morris has never been able to be counted on catching the ball. His touchdowns this week were a result of this status, along with timely hurry-up offense moments after downs where Helu was on the field. The touchdowns are most likely an aberration, and Alfred Morris is still the goal-to-go RB in Washington, but Helu's increasing role warrants a stash in most 12+ team formats.

Mike James - Tampa Bay Bucs

Baller Move: Add Immediately
Analysis: With Doug Martin sidelined indefinitely, Mike James stands to be the feature back in Tampa for multiple weeks, if not the remainder of the season. James stepped into his new role in the third quarter and performed well enough, gaining 45 yards on 14 carries and adding three receptions for eight yards. His potential role in the passing game only makes him even more attractive in PPR leagues. The fact that James saw 17 touches in less than a half of his new role certainly bodes well for his volume moving forward. With so few feature backs in the NFL this year, guys like James who get the call due to injury are just as valuable as those who earn it through talent.

Jacquizz Rodgers - Atlanta Falcons

Baller Move: Add in Deeper Leagues and All PPR Leagues
Analysis: Jacquizz's stint as the starting RB in Atlanta was extended last week as Steven Jackson suffered a setback in his recovery. While Jackson remains out, Rodgers, still available in about 50% of leagues, is a decent fill in option in standard leagues, and a near must start in PPR. Jacquizz had only 16 yards on eight carries, but tacked on 46 yards on eight receptions, two of which resulted in TDs. If Rodgers isn't available, Snelling is also a decent fill-in option in PPR formats, should Jackson remain out as expected.

Peyton Hillis - New York Giants

Baller Move: Add in Deep PPR Leagues
Analysis: Anyone who watched Week 7's Monday Night Football game was treated to one of the ugliest displays of football seen in some time.  Or maybe the Giants and Vikings defenses were just that good...... HA! One of the only positive development for fantasy football purposes was the emergence of Peyton Hillis as the go-to running back for the G-Men.   While Hillis was pretty ineffective with carries (36 yards on 18 carries), he was very effective in the passing game (5 receptions on 6 targets for 45 yards) and was also the Giants goal-line choice.  He played a hard-nosed game and was looking for contact all night.  All in all, Hillis finished with 1 TD on 5 REC and 81 total yards which is fantastic in PPR leagues.  Even if Jacobs returns healthy in Week 8, Hillis figures to split carries with him so he's a nice stash in PPR leagues right now.
