Kickers are cool, I promise. Week 1 proved that. In Sunday's matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns, Dallas kicker Brandon Aubrey connected on a 66-yard field goal. Unfortunately, a delay of game penalty occurred on offense.
If the kick counted, Aubrey would have tied with Justin Tucker for the all-time longest field goal in NFL history. Dallas was forced back five yards due to this penalty. We hoped to see a historical field goal, but head coach Mike McCarthy decided against the 71-yard try.
Speaking of history, Chris Boswell did a thing on Sunday. He scored all the Steelers' points in Sunday's win over Atlanta. His six field goals tied a franchise record. So yes, kickers are cool. Here is a rundown of the kickers to stream and avoid for the second week of the fantasy football season.

Kicker Streamers to Target for Week 2
Only players rostered in fewer than 60% of fantasy football leagues are considered streamers.
Jake Bates (DET) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
12.7% Rostered on Sleeper
The Detroit Lions lost kicker Michael Badgley in August due to a season-ending hamstring injury. Jake Bates joined the team in June, signing a two-year contract.
Bates was perfect in his debut with the Lions. He went 2-for-2 on field-goal attempts and made both extra-point attempts in Week 1 against the Rams.

Detroit's offense is high-powered, scoring 27.4 points per game in 2023. They'll face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2 in a matchup where the Lions look like strong favorites to win.
The former UFL kicker should be in your starting lineup for Week 2. He will continue seeing work, not only this week but in future weeks as well. Bates gets Arizona and Seattle before the bye.
Chris Boswell (PIT) @ Denver Broncos
2.6% Rostered on Sleeper
Week 1 was huge for Chris Boswell, as he finished with 26.00 fantasy points. Boswell should see an uptick in the percentage he's rostered after this showing. The 33-year-old scored ALL points for the Steelers in Week 1.
Boswell made all six of his field goal attempts. Three of those attempts came from more than 50 yards out. He knocked it through from 57, 56, and 51 yards in an impressive outing.

The veteran kicker should see a continuous stream of work going forward. Boswell will have plenty of opportunities for fantasy points if the Steelers can get into field goal range. Quarterback Justin Fields said in his postgame press conference, "We only have to get to the 40; I mean, he makes our job easier."
This week, Pittsburgh plays the Denver Broncos. Last season, the Broncos allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to kickers per game. Boswell won't always be the team's leading scorer, but he has a chance to put up good kicker numbers in Week 2.
Joshua Karty (LAR) @ Arizona Cardinals
2.1% Rostered on Sleeper
Joshua Karty is a kicker who is available in most leagues. The kicker for the Los Angeles Rams scored 9.00 fantasy points in Week 1, hitting both of his field goal attempts while connecting on both of his extra-point attempts.
He was calm and collected, playing on the road in Detroit in front of a large and loud crowd. On Sunday, Karty connected on both field goal attempts and made both extra-point attempts.
When the decibel level is at 117, the best way to quiet it is with a Joshua Karty field goal. His first NFL kick puts the @RamsNFL up 3-0.#NFL #RamsHouse #abc7eyewitness pic.twitter.com/0grCuLIx3H
— Curt Sandoval (@abc7curt) September 9, 2024
This week, the rookie faces the Arizona Cardinals in what should be a high-scoring game. The Cardinals gave up the second-most extra points per game last season. They also allowed 26 field goals in 2023.
Karty could become a vital fantasy option as the season progresses and not just a streamer. He benefits from being on a high-scoring offense.
Kickers to Avoid for Week 2
Blake Grupe (NO) @ Dallas Cowboys
2.0% Rostered on Sleeper
You're probably asking yourself, "Why is Blake Grupe on this list when he scored 26 fantasy points in Week 1?" Well, Grupe and company take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.
The Browns had one first down in the first 30 minutes of play in their Week 1 faceoff with the Cowboys. The Dallas defense outplayed Cleveland's offense in the first week of the season.
Although the New Orleans Saints got a huge win against the Panthers, this week they're facing a much harder defense in Dallas. The Cowboys have one of the best pass-rushing duos in the league in Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.
Grupe's percentage rostered will skyrocket this week due to his big first game. I like him as a kicker when the matchup supports it, but this week, he is better off your starting roster.
Daniel Carlson (LV) @ Baltimore Ravens
19.6% Rostered on Sleeper
Daniel Carlson is a kicker to avoid in fantasy football for the second week in a row. Last week, Carlson scored 3.00 fantasy points.
The Las Vegas Raiders could not move their offense against the Los Angeles Chargers. Las Vegas' offensive line did a poor job blocking.
Gardner Minshew II threw an interception and was sacked four times, resulting in a loss of 32 yards. In total, the Raiders had three turnovers on Sunday. Las Vegas also had just 71 yards on the ground in their loss.
The offensive line needs to play better so that Carlson can score fantasy points. The Raiders take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2. The Ravens tallied two sacks in Week 1 and look to secure even more against Minshew and the Raiders this week. Carlson is best left off your starting roster.
