Week 16 Wide Receivers: Waiver Wire Pickups, Adds & Playoff Matchups

By Thomson200 (Own work) [CC0], via Wikimedia Commons

Matt Harman analyzes Week 16 and fantasy football playoffs wide receivers (WR) - waiver wire pickups, adds and sleepers for both PPR and non-PPR leagues. NFL wide receivers are a key component.

Can you believe we're on week 16 already?  Time flies!  With two weeks left in the NFL season there's three reasons I can think of how this article can help you win your fantasy football league.

1. You're still in the championship hunt

2. You're trying to block a competitor from picking up one of these players

3. You're looking for 'cheap' keeper/dynasty steals for next season

This week I will look at the best week 16 wide receiver waiver wire pickups and sleepers, based on their current ownership numbers and fantasy outlook for the season.  I will also provide a bonus section in this article recommending a player not to target on waivers.

Fantasy Football Wide Receivers (WR) – Week 16

Organized by priority

Jarvis Landry (MIA) - Owned in 37% of Fleaflicker leagues

Over the last 4 weeks Landry has been targeted 44 times with a 77% catch rate which has made him a PPR gold mine.  During that time Landry has become Ryan Tannehill's favorite receiving target.  If you are in a keeper or dynasty league Landry is a must add if you haven't already got him.  If you are in a PPR league and Landry is somehow available pick him immediately.  In standard leagues Landry is a WR3/4 fringe player.

Baller Move: Add in all PPR leagues, Add in 14+ standard leagues

Charles Johnson (MIN) - Owned in 15% of Fleaflicker leagues

As we stated last week Johnson has become the number one passing option for the Minnesota Vikings and he has earned Teddy Bridgewater’s trust.  Even against the stout Lions defense Johnson had 5 grabs for 72 yards while playing every snap.  If you play in a Dynasty league Johnson needs to be picked up immediately.  In week 16 Johnson will be facing a Dolphins defense that ranks 5th overall in passing defense which doesn't present a lot of standard league value.  However if you are in a PPR league, Johnson does have some value.

Baller Move: Add in all PPR leagues, Add in 14+ standard leagues

Marquess Wilson (CHI) - Owned in 7% of Fleaflicker leagues

In week 14 the Chicago Bears lost Brandon Marshall for the season and many fantasy analysts suggested that the two beneficiaries would be Michael Bennett & Alshon Jeffrey.  They forgot another player that would benefit and that is Marquess Wilson.  Wilson has not played much this season as he injured his clavicle early in the year.  However, Wilson has the size (6'4") and passing offense (ranked 10th) where he could get the opportunities to produce, especially if Jeffrey gets double teamed.

Baller Move: Add in deep PPR leagues, monitor in standard leagues

Marqise Lee (JAC) - Owned in 12% of Fleaflicker leagues

This is another PPR recommendation for you to consider if the other options aren't available.  Over the last 3 weeks, Lee has been consistently targeted (at least 8 times).  This week Lee will be facing a lackluster team in the Titans who are ranked 30th in total defense.  If you are looking for a deep PPR WR option, Lee is a viable waiver option this week.

Baller Move: Add in deep PPR leagues, 14+ team standard leagues

Other options to consider if the above recommendations aren't available (in priority order): Stedman Bailey (STL), Nate Washington (TEN)

Wide Receiver To Avoid (Monitor This Situation)

Harry Douglas (ATL) - Owned in 19% of Fleaflicker leagues

In week 15 Harry Douglas broke out for a big game but don't expect this to reoccur.  Matt Ryan's favorite target, Julio Jones, was inactive due to injury this week which gave Douglas an opportunity.  Because of Douglas's production (10 catches, 131 yards) many fantasy players will be recommending him as a waiver pickup this week given Jones's health.  However, early reports are stating that Jones will be playing week 16.  If this is true Douglas's value drops quickly and therefore I'd recommend to look elsewhere. But if Jones is out, continue to roll with Douglas though.

I hope these guys help you in your matchup this week and going forward for the playoffs. If anyone has any specific questions or is looking for any assistance, hit me up @businesssoxroto. See you all next week, RotoBallers!
