Week 15 Quarterback (QB) Rankings Analysis

By Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades)

At QB I’m liking Derek Carr a little more than most this week. He’s been below average the last two weeks in tough matchups (Vs KC, @DEN), so I think some recency bias has pushed his rank downward.

He faces Green Bay this week and they will be without starting CB Sam Shields. That should go a long way in helping Carr to a good day. I have him at QB10.

I’m also high on Jay Cutler. The Vikings defense is really banged up right now. Star Safety Harrison Smith has been ruled out as has talented rookie LB Anthony Barr.

Their best lineman Linval Joseph is also questionable. I think he plays but if he’s not 100% that is a big plus for Cutler. With two of the Vikings top defensive players out, Cutler should do just fine.

The QB I am most interested in seeing this week is A.J. McCarron in his first start. It’s a nice matchup against the 49ers defense. If they do have to throw I think McCarron will be just fine.

He has a talented group of receivers around him even without Tyler Eifert. The major concern here has nothing to do with McCarron’s skill but rather that the Bengals will just run a ton because they can. That definitely worries me but I still see him as a solid QB2.

One QB I’m a little low on is Ben Roethlisberger at QB12. He’s still a fine start, but even with T.J. Ward out it’s going to be a tough matchup.

I know Ben scored 21 points against Seattle but Denver should be an even tougher matchup. 15-20 points should be doable. Anything more than that would surprise me.
