Week 14 Running Back Outlooks for Fantasy Football

Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Fantasy Football Outlook

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving (back, hip) is officially listed as questionable for the Week 14 contest this Sunday against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders. Irving missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday but returned to a limited session on Friday, giving him a chance to play this weekend. Fantasy managers will want to check back on the impressive 22-year-old's status on Sunday morning.

If he's active, Irving needs to be in all starting fantasy lineups in a plus matchup against the two-win Raiders as Tampa's most explosive and productive back in 2024. If Irving is held out, Rachaad White and Sean Tucker would split the backfield work on Sunday, with White having clear RB2 upside for fantasy managers. Irving has found the end zone six times on the ground in his first 12 NFL games and is averaging a strong 5.5 yards per carry on 133 rushing attempts in 2024.

- Keith Hernandez, RotoBaller

Isaac Guerendo, San Francisco 49ers - Fantasy Football Outlook

San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Isaac Guerendo will be in the spotlight for a Week 14 home contest versus the Chicago Bears. The fourth-round pick out of Louisville will be making his first career start in place of the injured Christian McCaffrey (knee) and Jordan Mason (ankle). The 49ers traded up to get Guerendo -- who they figured to be a great fit in their offensive scheme -- and he's looked the part so far, to the tune of 5.9 yards per carry and two touchdowns.

Guerendo hasn't yet flashed his full potential in the passing game, though he did catch three of four targets for 17 yards in Week 8 versus Dallas. If he manages to stay healthy, Guerendo has the potential to be a fantasy league-winner, given head coach Kyle Shanahan's history of riding his lead running back at the expense of secondary options. The only threats to Guerendo's volume come from fringe backs Patrick Taylor Jr., Israel Abanikanda, and Ke'Shawn Vaughn.

Chicago represents the 10th-best matchup for fantasy running backs in half-PPR scoring. The main factor throwing a wet blanket on Guerendo's outlook this week is the condition of the Niners' offensive line, who will be missing left guard Trent Williams (ankle) and possibly left guard Aaron Banks (concussion). Consider Guerendo a solid RB2 with a top-12 finish on the table.

- Brad Beltz, RotoBaller

Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers - Fantasy Football Outlook

Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard will test his legs against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14, who rank third in fewest points allowed to halfbacks. In Week 13, Hubbard had his worst performance since Week 1, recording just 43 yards on 12 carries, no receiving targets, and a game-losing fumble in overtime.

The concerns don't stop there, as Hubbard saw just 79% of offensive snaps on Sunday while rookie running back Jonathon Brooks took on a more significant role in the game plan. This was always the preseason concern for Hubbard managers, and it seems their fears could be coming true at an inopportune time. RotoBaller has Hubbard ranked as RB24 for Week 14.
