Week 13 Running Back (RB) Rankings Analysis

By Zach Wilkens (@LopsidedTrades)

Let’s start off talking a couple committees. First we have the Bears with Matt Forte and Jeremy Langford. Forte is definitely on the better side of that committee but it was closer than I expected. Forte had 37 snaps to Langford’s 30 and 16 touches to 13. So that one was pretty close.

The 49ers give up the second most points to RBs so I find myself really liking this matchup. I have Forte at RB8 and Langford at RB26 but Langford could easily outperform that ranking.

Secondly we have the Chiefs and Charcandrick West vs Spencer Ware. Ware definitely played well, but I think West played even better when he was healthy - as a result I’m expecting West to be on the better side of this split. The Raiders are a decent but not great matchup. Expecting West to get perhaps a 60/40 split, I have West at RB16 and Ware at RB35.

Lastly, the Broncos committee situation is confusing as ever. C.J. Anderson clearly looked better last week but HC Gary Kubiak stuck to his guns and Ronnie Hillman remains the starter. I’m using my eyes here and keeping CJ ahead.

It wouldn’t surprise me if either one ended up with a decent day and that uncertainty always scares me away a bit. As a result I see them more as flex plays than guys you want to really rely on.

This week will also be Cardinals rookie David Johnson’s first start. With both Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington out you can expect plenty of carries for Johnson. On talent alone I like him slightly more than Javorius Allen who is in a similar situation as a rookie.

With matchups I do have Allen slightly ahead this week but I have David Johnson in clear RB2 territory at RB18.
