Tyler Higbee (TE, LAR) - Week 11 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 0% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: As of the start of week nine, Tyler Higbee had accumulated just 70 receiving yards on just six receptions out of a mere eleven targets with a single touchdown reception through the first eight games of the season for the Rams. Now, over the last two weeks alone against the Saints and Seahawks, the former Western Kentucky product has gone for 65 yards receiving with a touchdown and five receptions out of seven targets. This means that Higbee has respectively earned 38.8% of his targets, 45.5% of his receptions, and 48.2% of his receiving yards for the season over the last two weeks. He has been a bit of an interesting mix in the way Jared Goff has chosen to utilize him. Both of his touchdowns have come out of his five targets when inside the red-zone (in fact, both have come inside the ten-yard line), while his 12.3 yards-per-reception and longest reception of 33 yards demonstrate his ability to make big plays down the field.

The news came this week that Cooper Kupp is out for the season with a torn ACL. That creates a huge gap to be filled in the Los Angeles passing game, considering that Kupp had produced 566 yards on 40 receptions (out of 56 targets) with a team-high six trips across the goal-line. There are still a few names on the Rams roster in line ahead of Higbee for attention on offense; namely Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, Todd Gurley, and Gerald Everett. However, Jared Goff has a lot of wealth to spread with his 22 touchdown passes and just six interceptions this season while currently tossing for 313.4 yards per contest. With Kupp now sadly out of the picture and his play picking up encouragingly across the field over the last two weeks, Tyler Higbee is a sneaky option in the shallow abyss that has been the tight end position for the 2018 NFL campaign.
