ANALYSIS: With James Conner suffering a season-ending ankle injury, No. 2 running back Trey Benson is slated to operate as the lead running back for the foreseeable future in Arizona. As a rookie, Benson was deployed as the clear backup and was not given many opportunities.
However, throughout the first two weeks of the 2025 season, Benson already began to care about a career-low-end FLEX value despite sitting behind Conner on the depth chart. On 21 carries, Benson has totaled an impressive 125 yards. He has also brought in eight of his 11 targets for 45 yards.
Fantasy managers should feel confident starting Benson in all formats as the Cardinals do not have many proven options behind him that could take opportunities as Emari Demercado will likely operate as a change-of-pace running back, while Bam Knight could see a handful of carries.
As a result, facing a Seahawks defense that has allowed the 14th-most PPR points to popoing RBs this season, Benson should be viewed as a strong RB2 in all formats on Thursday evening. He should see nearly 20+ total touches in this contest.
