Trevor Bauer Hoping For Happier Home Outings in 2016

Trevor Bauer's home-road splits were the most concerning aspect of the young right-hander's inconsistent 2015. Opponents had an OPS nearly 200 points higher when facing him at Progressive Field (.797 versus .608).

There were some bright sides to Bauer's 2015. He continues to establish himself as a strikeout artist, with his 2015 K/9 rate of 8.69 sitting between Gerrit Cole and Gio Gonzalez. He had two full months—the first and last—where he allowed no more than a single big fly. But there is no way around how pronounced his struggles at home are. Of the 56 extra base hits allowed by Bauer all season, he allowed 39 of them during home starts—including 16 of 23 home runs. If he can bring down last year’s home ERA of 5.61 closer to his road ERA of 3.32, he may finally begin living up to his now-dusty title of phenom. Consider him a definite buy-low candidate and late-round flier.
