Top Hitter Streamers for Week 2: Head-to-Head or Weekly Leagues

Below are my top MLB hitter streamer options for Week 2 of fantasy baseball. All eight players listed here are under 50% owned in Yahoo leagues and play seven games this week.

Streaming hitters is a great way to increase production and fantasy stats off the waiver wire for your head-to-head matchups, or if you're dealing with some underperformers on your roster. Check back weekly for my favorite hitter streamers for the upcoming week.

Editor’s Note: RotoBaller’s fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups list is updated every single day. Our awesome writers bring you analysis on hot or emerging starting pitchers, and also all other fantasy positions. You can also download our waiver wire iPhone app for free, and easily stay updated.

1. Desmond Jennings, OF, Rays

(3 @ Miami, 4 @ Toronto) - 33% owned

Jennings is a speed play with average power available in more than half of Yahoo’s leagues.  With season highs of 31 steals and 14 homers, and four straight years of double digit homers and steals, Jennings is worth a look after a hot start.

2. Michael Taylor, OF, Nationals

(4 vs. Philadelphia, 3 @ Boston) - 7% owned

In 98 games in AAA last year, he hit 22 homers and stole 34 bases while hitting .313.  The year before he stole 51.  Batting leadoff for the Nationals, he is a worthy add and potential hold.  Due to his strikeout issues, however, his batting average could be a concern.

3. Steven Souza, OF, Rays

(3 @ Miami, 4 @ Toronto) - 45% owned

Souza, just shy of his 26th birthday, has crushed the ball in the minors.  In AAA last year, he hit .350 with 18 homers and 26 steals in only 96 games.  While he has little major league experience, he is a nice add (likely more than a streaming option) if he’s available in your league.

4. Kevin Kiermaier, OF, Rays

(3 @ Miami, 4 @ Toronto) - 5% owned

Rounding out the trio of Rays power/speed hitters is Kiermaier.  In 108 games last year, he hit 10 homers and stole five bags while hitting .263.  This year, we can likely expect more steals per game.

5. Angel Pagan, OF, Giants

(3 vs. COL, 4 vs. ARI) - 27% owned

Hitting third in the Giants lineup, weak as though it may be, Pagan could help in runs and RBIs with a decent average.  He is likely past his days of stealing 30 bags a year, but he could still come up with decent steals as well.

6. David Peralta, OF, Diamondbacks

(3 @ San Diego, 4 @ San Francisco) - 3% owned

Peralta is down in the ranks due to Arizona having four outfielders for three spots.  But, in just over half a season last year, he hit .286 with eight homers and six steals.  He has hit cleanup against righties, and the Diamondbacks will see six righties this week.

7. Nori Aoki, OF, Giants

(3 vs. COL, 4 vs. ARI) - 14% owned

Another Giants option without much power, Aoki could provide decent batting average, runs, and steals in seven games this week in the leadoff spot.  He has hit at least .285 with 17 or more steals in every season.

8. Jake Lamb, 3B, Diamondbacks

(3 @San Diego, 4 @San Francisco) - 31% owned

Lamb has shown modest to good pop in the minors to go with a good average.  At only 24, and off to a hot start, with level games and slotted near the middle of the Diamondbacks order, he could be a streamer who you hold onto to evaluate further.
