Top Fantasy Football Injuries From Sunday: Aaron Rodgers, Travis Etienne, Michael Carter, Elijah Mitchell, Darnell Mooney

Aaron Rodgers - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Targets, NFL Injury News

Top Injuries From Week 12 fantasy football for RB, WR, QB, TE (2022), as of 11/28 -- Aaron Rodgers, Travis Etienne, Michael Carter, Elijah Mitchell, and Darnell Mooney.

Each week brings a new flurry of key injured players, and this week we have a future Hall-Of-Famer and a breakout running back on the early injury report. As always, some players who suffered injuries are more likely to miss time than others, but we'll cover it all. Our fantasy football injuries report highlights the banged-up players with fantasy significance and their early status heading into Week 13 as of Monday, November 28, 2022. This article focuses only on players who suffered injuries on Sunday of Week 12 games.

Aaron Rodgers, Travis Etienne, Michael Carter, Elijah Mitchell, and Darnell Mooney picked up bumps and bruises in Week 12. We can't know for sure how these injuries will progress before game time in Week 13, but it's never too early to at least take a look at the group of key guys to prepare for waiver wire Wednesday or Thursday.

Aaron Rodgers Injury Update

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (thumb, ribs) is expected to undergo more testing on Monday. The 39-year-old suffered a thumb fracture during Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He will also have more testing done on his ribs to see the significance of that injury. Rodgers says that he's going to be out there next week as long as he's cleared to play.

Fantasy managers will have to wait and see until after the team does more testing. The Packers playoff hopes are looking bleak at the moment. Possibly, they hand over the reins to Jordan Love for the final stretch of games. He'd have streaming potential in a favorable matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 13.

Travis Etienne Injury Update

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. (foot) left the game early against Baltimore Ravens in Week 12. He exited the game and was taken to the locker room after rushing for just three yards during the first quarter. However, the team never ruled him out and he was reportedly running and making cuts on the sideline, but he did not return.

Etienne seems to think he'll be good to go for next week, but as always, things can change in a hurry. If he plays, he's a top-tier fantasy running back in a juicy matchup with the Detroit Lions. If not, expect JaMycal Hasty and perhaps the newly acquired Darrell Henderson to share the backfield workload.

Michael Carter Injury Update

New York Jets running back Michael Carter suffered a sprained ankle during the Week 12 win over the Bears, according to head coach Robert Saleh. However, Saleh wasn't sure about the severity of the ailment. With Breece Hall (knee) done for the year, Carter had taken over the No. 1 spot on the depth chart. He struggled on Sunday, amassing only 21 yards off six touches while adding two catches for 15 yards.

Yet, the team is certainly hoping for a positive update ahead of the Week 13 meeting against the Vikings. That said, Zonovan Knight, who had 14 carries for 69 yards and three receptions for 34 yards, may get more work if Carter can't suit up for that one. Ty Johnson, who had a touchdown in Week 12, would also likely remain involved.

Elijah Mitchell Injury Update

San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) didn't return to Sunday's win over the Saints. Fortunately, the 24-year-old may have avoided anything serious, with head coach Kyle Shanahan stating that Mitchell likely sprained his MCL, although it's not the same Knee that forced him to sit out seven games this season. In total, he has missed 15 games throughout his brief career, and it's probable he misses more moving forward.

Nonetheless, Mitchell will undergo further testing. However, based on his lack of production during the 2022-23 campaign and the addition of Christian McCaffrey, it won't make much of a difference to fantasy managers if he's not in the lineup.

Darnell Mooney Injury Update

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (ankle) was injured during the Week 12 loss to the Jets. While the team was optimistic, there is fear that the 25-year-old could require season-ending surgery. After being unproductive for most of the entire 2022-23 campaign, he showed signs of life by accruing two touchdowns in the last three weeks heading into Sunday's matchup.

However, even if Mooney can return, Justin Fields' (shoulder) current ailment may keep him off the field as well, which wouldn't do the wideout any favors. Nonetheless, he will undergo further testing on Monday, but it's not looking good. As a result, Chase ClaypoolByron Pringle, and Dante Pettis may battle for targets from whoever is under center for the rest of the year.
