Top Fantasy Football Dynasty Players For Each Team: AFC South

Anthony Richardson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL News

Ellis Johnson selects the most valuable dynasty fantasy football player on each AFC South team for the 2024 season. These are the star players you want to have.

Finally, the NFL kickoff is appearing on the horizon. We are getting the first look at veteran players in new situations as well as the rookies in training camp. We are also seeing some of the veterans returning from injury. Although not all highlights are football-related, it's always fun to see Anthony Richardson healthy enough to windmill dunk (check this out).

In this series of articles, I will highlight who I believe is the most valuable dynasty player on each NFL team. I’ll divide the teams by division and break down the situation that may impact these players in the future.

Today we are breaking down the top dynasty players in the AFC South. This division is loaded with young players and electric playmakers. It's wild remembering that this division has been mediocre for so long. We have three quarterbacks drafted in 2023 and one of the best QB prospects of all time commanding these teams. Let's see if these quarterbacks can top their teams for dynasty value.

Editor's Note: The FFPC Playoff Challenge #2 is back with a massive $100,000 grand prize and $203,250 total prize pool, paying down to 100th place. Here's the deal: no salary cap, no draft, no pickups, no subs. Choose 8 players, and as NFL teams get knocked out so will your players, so choose your team wisely. The entries will sell out quickly, and registrations will close on Saturday January 17th at 4:30 pm ET . Don't wait - get your team now and end your fantasy football season with a shot at $100,000! Houston Texans

C.J. Stroud (QB, HOU)

An absolute slam-dunk selection here. Stroud is incredible, posting arguably the best rookie season alongside the names of Justin Herbert and Andrew Luck. Not only did he produce for fantasy, but he led this team to a playoff win. This season, the Texans have bolstered their entire roster and added both Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon to their offense.

Last season, Stroud passed for over 4,000 yards with 23 touchdowns and five interceptions. Despite being an incredible rookie, Stroud finished as the QB9 for fantasy. With the offseason additions, Stroud could easily take another step forward this year. If he does, the sky is truly the limit.

Whether you are contending or rebuilding, Stroud is on the path to becoming one of those “untouchable” players (if he hasn’t cracked it already).

Jacksonville Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence (QB, JAX)

In this exercise, the Jaguars are like a discount Miami Dolphins. Four names could be argued as the most valuable; however, unlike the Dolphins, none of the players are elite. In the end, I have to side with the positional value of the quarterback. If this is not a Superflex league, a case could be made for Travis Etienne or even Brian Thomas Jr..

Despite all of the criticism Trevor Lawrence received this season, he managed to sign a massive extension. Whether he is worth this new contract remains unseen; however, he has all of the talent to come through for both fantasy and the NFL. Even though it hasn’t happened yet, his contract will provide him plenty of time and opportunities to become the player we had all hoped for out of college.

Indianapolis Colts

Anthony Richardson (QB, IND)

Arguably the highest-risk player on this list, Richardson tops his team for fantasy value. If Richardson can stay healthy, he possesses all of the traits to break fantasy football. However, that’s a big “if.” In his first season, he only played four games and failed to finish two of them. This offseason, he has discussed his rigorous rehabilitation and changes that he has made to stay healthy for the upcoming season.

If he can stay healthy, he is in the perfect situation. Shane Steichen is a brilliant offensive mind and loves to run a fast-paced offense. Pairing this offense with the most athletic QB in the history of the NFL Combine is what could break fantasy football leagues.

Not only is this a match made in heaven, but he has elite weapons around him. Between Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Jonathan Taylor, and rookie Adonai Mitchell, this could be a fantastic offense for fantasy.

Tennessee Titans

Will Levis (QB, TEN)

At this point, the most valuable fantasy player has to be Will Levis. Even though that sounds gross, this entire offense is made up of aging veterans and timeshare running backs. Much like the Jaguars, that pushes me to select the quarterback for positional value.

In my opinion, Levis falling into the second round of the NFL Draft aligned with his on-field performance. At times he looked electric as both a passer and a runner. However, there were other times when he was missing throws and making mistakes.

What makes Levis intriguing for fantasy is the team around him. It’s not the most attractive weapons but DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd, Tyjae Spears, and Tony Pollard are a formidable group of skill players. He’ll have the full season to prove he is the long-term starter for the Titans, making him a risky, yet valuable player in dynasty formats.
