NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 3/27/25

Tonight, we have a 10-game slate and two teams playing on a back-to-back: Dallas and Edmonton. Tonight’s slate offers value across the board, offering creativity when building lineups.

The currently live top-3 highest implied team totals are: Toronto with 3.8, Tampa Bay with 3.6, and Buffalo with 3.5. I will do my best to guide you through this 10-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Logan Thompson - DK $7.6K || FD $8K

Opponent - at Minnesota Wild

Logan Thompson was let down by his team in the 3-2 loss at Winnipeg on Tuesday night. The net minder produced 22 saves in the overtime loss and now has a 4-0-1 record with a 2.39 Goals Against Average and a 0.910 Save Percentage over his last five starts. Furthermore, within his last 10 away starts, he has a 0.56 Goals Saved Above Expected Pee 60, a 2.15 Goals Against Average, and a 0.922 Save Percentage.

The Minnesota Wild is the fifth-best team in value when assessing Shots Per Goal Per 60 on the slate. When comparing their last 10 home games to their last 25 games, the hosts are underperforming, albeit not by much. These two teams played once this year, with the Wild winning 4-3 on the road and Charlie Lindgren starting for the Capitals. If Thompson finds his groove early, he will have a chance of producing a similar outing to Adin Hill of the Golden Knights on Tuesday.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Andrei Vasilevskiy (DK $8.4K || FD $8.1K) vs. Utah Hockey Club
  • Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (DK $7.5K || FD $7.7K) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Auston Matthews - DK $9.5K || FD $8.8K

Opponent - at San Jose Sharks

Auston Matthews is the crown jewel of the slate. Not only is the center on fire, but he is also in a premium matchup in San Jose. Matthews has accumulated three goals, four assists, 21 shots, and eight blocked shots in his most recent five games.

The Sharks at the surface level look to be playing improved hockey, and more specifically, improved defense in their last 10 home games to their last 25 home games. However, diving deeper and looking at their opponents, the bigger puzzle comes together. San Jose has had an "easier" schedule over their last 10 home games. If looking at their last 10 home games, they are bottom-10 in Scoring Chances Against Per 60, High-Danger Chances Against Per 60 and Goals Against Per 60. Auston Matthews is projected to reach value and more here.

Morgan Frost - DK $4.5K || FD $5.4K

Opponent - vs. Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars are traveling on the second half of a back-to-back after playing the Edmonton Oilers, a game that has yet to be played at the time of writing. It is expected that Casey DeSmith will also start between the pipes for this matchup. DeSmith deserves credit where credit is due for his recent run of form, but like San Jose above, DeSmith’s opposition was not the "hardest." When comparing Dallas’s last 10 away games to their last 25 away games, they are conceding 0.7 more Goals Against Per 60 and have a positive 0.24 Expected Goals Against Per 60.

This leads us to Morgan Frost and Calgary's second line. Since moving to the Great White North, the center has found his offensive spark. He has two assists, eight shots, and seven blocked shots in five previous outings. For under $5K on DraftKings, playing against an underperforming defense, Frost is expected to reach value for the second straight game.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Sean Couturier (DK $5.4K || FD $5.5K) vs. Montreal Canadiens
  • Matty Beniers (DK $4.8K || FD $5.7K) vs. Edmonton Oilers

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Matthew Knies - DK $6.3K || FD $5.7K

Opponent - at San Jose Sharks

Returning to SAP Center, we have Auston Matthews’s linemate, Matthew Knies. Knies has thrived in his first full season on the top line for the Toronto Maple Leafs. In 67 games, he has 25 goals, 22 assists, and 123 shots, all career highs. In his last five appearances, he has one goal, three assists, 12 shots, and three blocked shots.

As mentioned above, San Jose is performing well right now. Is it because of their ‘friendly’ schedule? Time will tell. Like his linemate Matthews, Knies will be a highly sought-after player on the slate tonight.

Matvei Michkov - DK $5.8K || FD $6K

Opponent - vs. Montreal Canadiens

Matvei Michkov has finally reached his first 50-point mark and is the third rookie to do so this year, thanks to his three-game point streak. He has amassed four assists, 12 shots, and one blocked shot in that window. Michkov, along with the entirety of the Philadelphia Flyers, has struggled this season.

Luckily, they waltz into a prime matchup at home against the Montreal Canadiens. In the visitors' last 10 away games, they are the second-worst in Scoring Chances Against Per 60 and in the bottom-10 in High-Danger Chances Against Per 60. Will Michkov keep his point streak alive?

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Jake Guentzel (DK $6.9K || FD $7.5K) vs. Utah Hockey Club
  • Jonathan Huberdeau (DK $5.2K || FD $6.2K) vs. Dallas Stars

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Rasmus Andersson - DK $5.1K || FD $5.4K

Opponent - vs. Dallas Stars

Even with a fully healthy blueline, Rasmus Andersson has been producing. The two-way defender has two goals, three assists, 12 shots, and eight blocked shots in his last five outings. His peripherals are not quite where many would like them to be, but his point production has made up for it.

As previously mentioned, Dallas is underperforming defensively. They will also be playing the second half of a back-to-back on the road. Andersson is expected to reach value in this matchup.

Brandon Carlo - DK $3K || FD $4K

Opponent - at San Jose Sharks

To close out the Toronto Maple Leafs, enter defenseman Brandon Carlo. The two-way defender has seen a slight resurgence in his career after being traded from Boston to Toronto. He instantly made an impact on the top pairing and has the opportunity to produce night in and night out.

He has four shots and seven blocked shots in his most recent five appearances. For $3K on DraftKings, his low floor and high ceiling are worthy of the dart throw in a premium matchup.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Jakob Chychrun (DK $5.3K || FD $5.7K) at Minnesota Wild
  • Jacob Bernard-Docker (DK $2.8K || FD $3.9K) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
