NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/19/24

Tonight, we have a seven-game slate and two teams playing on a back-to-back: Edmonton and Anaheim. Tonight’s slate offers value across the board, offering creativity when building lineups and the chance to stack Tampa Bay in Jake Guentzel’s return to Pittsburgh.

The currently live top-three highest implied team totals are Tampa Bay with 3.6, Edmonton with 3.5, and Chicago with 3.3. I will do my best to guide you through this seven-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 P.M. EST.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

John Gibson - DK $7.2K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks

Value will be hard to come by at the goalie position tonight, leaving us with options like John Gibson for the Anaheim Ducks. The veteran goalie has made two starts since returning from a lengthy injury. He has a 2-0-0 record in those two games with a 3.01 Goals Against Average and a 0.908 Save Percentage.

The Chicago Blackhawks have revamped their lineup in an attempt to deliver consistency across all four lines. On the season, in Per 60 stats, they are a bottom-five team in everything except Shots For. As the goalie with the most projected saves, Gibson is set up for an optimal night.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Gustavsson (DK $8.4K || FD $8.2K)
  • Vladar (DK $7.9K || FD $8K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Joel Eriksson Ek - DK $6.2K || FD $5.8K

Opponent - St. Louis Blues

After being out for one game due to a lower-body injury, Joel Eriksson Ek is expected to return to the lineup for the Minnesota Wild. In his five games before the injury, he had one assist, nine shots, and two blocked shots. When he returns to the lineup, he will have a new role and one new linemate, Kirill Kaprizov, who is mentioned in ‘Others To Consider’.

The St. Louis Blues are struggling, and the locker room is starting to unfold, with rumors swirling that starting netminder Jordan Binnington–who is expected to start–is considering requesting a trade. Over the season, in Per 60 stats, St. Louis is a bottom-ten team in Scoring Chances Against, High-Danger Chances Against, and Goals Against. They are also being outscored 12 to 19 in their last five home games. As the go-to center for the Wild now, Eriksson Ek will be expected to produce two points, three shots, and one blocked shot.

Jason Dickinson - DK $2.5K || FD $3.7K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

Even if Jason Dickinson does not score or register a point in this home matchup against a traveling Anaheim Ducks, he will still maintain and exceed value. The center has been elevated to the top line for the Blackhawks after a lineup shuffle at practice. He will now play with upcoming superstar and teammate Connor Bedard (DK $7K || FD $6.1K).

Anaheim has been playing above its weight class recently, and its strong goaltending–look at last night–has helped with this. However, it is the worst team in Scoring Chances Against Per 60, Shots Against Per 60, and High-Danger Chances Against Per 60. At under $2.5K on DraftKings, Dickinson only needs a few shots to exceed value. Expect the center to see high ownership in the majority of contests.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • McDavid (DK $9.8K || FD $8.7K)
  • Point (DK $6.5K || FD $6.6K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Jake Guentzel - DK $7.5K || FD $7.3K

Opponent - Pittsburgh Penguins

The long-awaited narrative is here for Jake Guentzel and Pittsburgh fans alike. The return of the once-beloved Guentzel has arrived. The winger makes his way back to Pittsburgh for the first time since being dealt to Carolina last season and he is playing on a completely different team than many expected. In his most recent five games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, he has two goals, three assists, 11 shots, and three blocked shots.

 The Pittsburgh Penguins are on the verge of a complete teardown and a massive rebuild..something they have not needed to endure for over a decade. On the season, in Per 60 stats, they are the fifth-worst in Scoring Chances Against, the third-worst in Shots Against, and the second-worst in both High-Danger Chances Against and Goals Against. Furthermore, their goaltending has been getting picked apart. Alex Nedeljkovic (DK $7.4K || FD $7K), the expected starter tomorrow for Pittsburgh, has a 1-1-2 record in his last five starts with a 3.59 Goals Against Average and a 0.868 Save Percentage. This sets up Guentzel to extend his point streak to three games in a prime matchup for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Joey Anderson - DK $2.5K || FD $3.6K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

Like his teammate and linemate Jason Dickinson, Joey Anderson has been elevated to the top line next to Connor Bedard. Through his most recent five games, the winger has one assist, five shots, and three blocked shots. As mentioned, Anaheim’s defense is less than stellar, and they are traveling on a back-to-back after winning 4-2 in Dallas last night.

For the minimum salary on DraftKings, Anderson needs two shots at a minimum, and he surpasses value. In most contests tonight, Anderson is expected to see north of 20 percent ownership.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Kaprizov (DK $9.6K || FD $9K)
  • Zegras (DK $4K || FD $4.5K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Pavel Mintyukov - DK $3.4K || FD $4.5K

Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks

In what is expected to be a back-and-forth matchup with the Chicago Blackhawks, Pavel Mintyukov will be relied on for offensive production. In his five games before last night, he had one assist, eight shots, and eight blocked shots. He is currently averaging one shot and one blocked shot Per 60.

Chicago’s defense is in the bottom ten, and with inconsistent forward production, the Ducks are relying more on their offensive defensemen to generate offense. Chicago is one of the worst teams conceding shots from the point, setting up Mintyukov for a potential slate-breaking performance.

Alex Vlasic - DK $3.7K || FD $4.8K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

Without Seth Jones–foot–Alex Vlasic is taking over quarterbacking duties for Chicago’s top power-play unit. Over Vlasic’s most recent five appearances, he has seven shots and ten blocked shots.

Thanks to his consistent peripheral production, Vlasic becomes an optimal defender tonight for under $4K on DraftKings.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Bouchard (DK $6.8K || FD $6.2K)
  • Spurgeon (DK $3.9K || FD $4.9K)
