Ted Ginn Jr. (WR, NO) - Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 7% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: Time flies. It’s been more than 10 years since Ted Ginn Jr. was drafted in 2007 by the Dolphins and he keeps grinding. Now in his third season with the Saints, it is normal that he has fallen in the dark a bit with such beasts as Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas calling for the spotlight. Even with that, Ginn has already surpassed the five-game mark that he was stopped at last season and should keep providing the team with options on offense here and there.

So far this season, playing mostly under Teddy Bridgewater due to Drew Brees’ injury, Ginn has racked up 206 yards and a touchdown on 16 receptions. He’s actually the second most-targeted (25) receiver other than Thomas (67) and he’s been able to make the most out of his chances. His 12.9 yards per reception lead the Saints and he has even been able to rush for 13 yards on a couple of carries.

While Ginn’s weekly value isn’t otherworldly, we already saw what he can be capable of in Week 1. Back then, he scored a more than great 17.1 fantasy points against Houston to the tune of 101 yards on seven-for-seven receptions. He’s not reached such heights since then, but his last two weeks have been productive considering the lack of volume he’s seen. He’s got 71 receiving yards and a score on just four receptions. If the Saints turn to him a little more we should see an uptick in his raw numbers.

Ginn could be a good addition if you lack depth at the position or need a flex player to play on good matchups going forward, even more with Brees about to come back from his absence.
