Should I Start Greg Dortch In Fantasy Football? Week 17 Outlook

Is Greg Dortch a viable fantasy football option in Week 17? What can we expect from Dortch with Colt McCoy at QB? Fantasy football outlook.

Fantasy championships are coming in hot, and injuries are forcing some regular-season juggernauts to pivot in a pinch.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch raised a few eyebrows with his 10-reception performance in Week 16, and he suddenly finds himself in the fantasy discussion as the season comes to a close.

It is possible that QB Trace McSorley was just confused and thought DeAndre Hopkins wore #83, but fantasy managers have to consider the possibility that Dortch may have a consistent role down the stretch.

So, should we expect Dortch to torch the Atlanta Falcons defense in Week 17? Is Dortch worth adding and starting in the fantasy football championship?

What Has Greg Dortch Done In Fantasy Football In 2022?

Greg Dortch’s weekly fantasy totals show us that he has been the definition of a dart-throw flex play. He is currently averaging 5.5 half-PPR fantasy points per game with a wide variance in production. Arizona’s struggle to maintain a consistent roster further contributes to a blurred view of Dortch’s weekly value.

His production disparity could be attributed to quarterback chemistry… right? Not exactly. Dortch has recorded double-digit fantasy points in at least one game with all three starting quarterbacks, making his sporadic spikes even harder to anticipate.

What Do We Know About Greg Dortch And Arizona’s Offense In Week 17?

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury confirmed that Colt McCoy has cleared concussion protocol and is in line to start Week 17. McCoy was (Mc)sorely missed last week and his return should be viewed as an upgrade to the offense.

Dortch didn’t see much action during McCoy’s season debut in Week 10, but his snap share jumped to 93% after Rondale Moore was injured in Week 11. Dortch produced a career-high 103 yards with McCoy as the starter, with 17 yards coming from McSorley during the fourth quarter.

We have a limited sample size beyond that, as Dortch played just 10 offensive snaps in Weeks 14-15 after returning from a thumb injury suffered in Week 11.

Should I Start Greg Dortch In Fantasy Football In Week 17?

Think of Greg Dortch as the wild card uncle at Christmas dinner. One year he stops by for an hour and leaves before dessert, the next year he’s wearing a Santa hat and singing Mariah Carey. You can count on him to be there, but you’re not sure which version of him you’re going to get.

There are a lot of moving pieces in this Arizona offense. Between quarterback changes, injuries, and an early playoff elimination, the uncertainty inspires little confidence in relying on the Cardinals for a fantasy championship.

Dortch should see enough volume to provide a modest output, but don’t expect another game with double-digit targets. View him as a deep-league flex play with an edge in PPR formats.
