Should I drop Kimani Vidal for fantasy football Week 8? Is Kimani Vidal a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.
It did not take long for Los Angeles Chargers tailback Kimani Vidal to go from a fantasy hero to a fantasy zero.
After racking up 124 rushing yards and catching a touchdown pass in Week 6 versus the New York Giants, Vidal was held to 20 rushing yards and 15 receiving yards by a staunch Indianapolis Colts defense last week. This has made fantasy managers worldwide wonder if Vidal was a one-week wonder.
Should you drop Vidal this week in favor of another running back, or was the Colts game an aberration, and Vidal is still worthy of a roster spot on your fantasy squad? Let's dive into my take for Vidal this week.
Should I Drop Kimani Vidal in Fantasy Football?
No!!! A resounding no! Vidal should be held onto for a few more weeks for various reasons. The first is that despite his lackluster effort in Week 7, he will remain the Chargers’ top tailback for the foreseeable future. Omarion Hampton is on the injured reserve, Najee Harris is out for the season, and Hassan Haskins is doubtful to play this week due to a hamstring injury.

Vidal will be the head of the Chargers' rushing attack this week at home against a Minnesota run defense that has been up and down this year, and the backups behind him will be from the practice squad since the Chargers have so many injuries. So Vidal will be leaned on heavily in Week 8.
Another reason to hold onto Vidal is the lack of exciting options on league waiver wires this week. Check below for some other backs you could pick up if you decide to drop Vidal. They are all reserve running backs that need the starters in front of them to get injured so they can play more. Why do that when you have Vidal, a sure starter this week, already on your roster?
If you do not want to listen to me and are steadfast in thinking Vidal should be dumped, here are some other running backs you could claim on waivers in your league this week:
Who Should I Pickup for Fantasy Football?
Kyle Monangai, Chicago Bears
Kyle Monangai is not unseating top tailback D’Andre Swift for the RB1 slot in Chicago yet after the latter rushed for 100 yards in back-to-back contests, but Monangai rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown himself against New Orleans. Monangai runs low to the ground and has above-average burst and might have earned himself more touches with his Week 7 performance.
He will be facing Baltimore’s 26th-ranked run defense this weekend, so he might provide a fantasy bang for you.

Isaiah Davis, New York Jets
Normally, a backup running back who had just two carries and two catches in his last game is not the prize pick on the waiver wire, especially when the person plays on a winless team with an offense that is horrific and had its quarterback called out by its owner. Yet Isaiah Davis is attractive because Breece Hall turned an ankle in New York’s last game, and the Jets face a Cincinnati defense that has allowed running backs to roll up big games against them all season long.
Devin Neal, New Orleans Saints
You thought the aforementioned Davis did not do much? How about Devin Neal, who was a third-string back with a measly three rushing attempts on the season? But with New Orleans RB2 Kendre Miller out for the season with a torn ACL, Neal becomes Alvin Kamara’s understudy and could see significant snaps if Kamara gets injured or traded.
