Should I Drop Dylan Sampson in Fantasy Football?
In Week 1, Sampson appeared to be a must-add player as he dominated the backfield with Judkins sitting out. During this contest, Sampson took the lead while veteran Jerome Ford was deployed as the clear No. 2. Sampson logged 12 carries and saw an impressive eight targets in the passing game. In total, Sampson tallied 64 receiving yards and added 24 on the ground.
In this game, Ford totaled just seven yards from scrimmage.
However, in Week 2, Judkins was able to make his professional debut and wasted little time making an impact. Facing the Baltimore Ravens, Judkins logged a team-high 10 carreis, while Ford saw six and Sampson saw four. In the passing game, Ford led the way with six targets, while Judkins and Sampson both saw three targets each.
More importantly, Sampson logged the fewest offense snaps at the position, which suggests the team views him as a change-of-pace option and no more than a backup option to the perceived workhorse, Judkins.
While Sampson could eventually earn a larger role if Ford or Judkins were to miss time, given Sunday's snap share, Sampson is likely expected to operate as the team's No. 3 option going forward, which makes him a safe option to drop in all 10-team leagues.
Who Should I Pickup for Fantasy Football?
With every drop, there is a player to add. This weekend, many young running backs began to emerge in their respective backfields. Several rookie running backs like Bhayshul Tuten, Cam Skattebo, and even the previously mentioned Judkins all appear to have claimed a more prominent role than Sampson currently holds, and are worth rostering over him.
In addition, second-year running back Trey Benson appears to have more standalone value than Sampson currently holds despite being the team's "backup" running back.
With Tank Bigsby leaving the Jaguars backfield, Tuten figures to be the team's primary No. 2 option with minimal competition. This past weekend, Tuten was able to see a slightly increased role and even found the back of the end zone.

Skattebo was able to see more opportunity than Tyrone Tracy Jr. (who started in Week 1) this weekend, suggesting that the Giants may view him as the optimal starter going forward. Benson was a primary handcuff as a rookie, but he has logged over 20 offensive snaps in each of the first two games, a feat he only accomplished once as a rookie.

However, managers in 12+ team leagues with deeper rosters should continue to hold Sampson as he is projected to have higher upside as a handcuff than more widely available options, such as Kyle Monangai and DJ Giddens. While Monangai and Giddens could have fantasy relevance later in the season, Sampson has already flashed much higher upside in his young career and is worth holding on your roster over them.
