Running back D'Onta Foreman signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears this offseason after stepping up for the Carolina Panthers last year. Following Christian McCaffrey's trade from the Panthers, Foreman took over that backfield, rushing for 914 yards and five touchdowns.
Foreman will now head to Chicago, a team that loves to run the football. The Bears have a crowded running back group with Khalil Herbert and rookie Roschon Johnson, so it'll be interesting to see who leads the pack in 2023.

D'Onta Foreman 2023 Training Camp
After a solid season in Carolina, the Bears were happy to land Foreman in free agency. He's a hard runner and has been showing that throughout training camp. Foreman has been splitting first-team reps with Herbert so far this offseason, which has continued through training camp this week. On top of that, the Bears' running back has also been a surprise weapon in the passing game and could be utilized more in that area in 2023.
On Tuesday, though, we finally got some clarity on the Bears' running back situation. Chicago released their first unofficial depth chart and had Foreman second on the list behind Herbert. It's not a surprise to see this, but things can always change.
Should I Draft D'Onta Foreman?
Foreman is an interesting case in fantasy drafts in 2023. He goes to a Bears offense that ran the ball at the highest rate in the NFL (56.2%) last season. Still, the 27-year-old running back shouldn't be a high priority, even in the later rounds of your fantasy football leagues.
With Herbert and Johnson also in the mix out of the backfield, it appears Foreman is headed for a running back by committee type of season. The Bears are enamored with Johnson, the rookie out of Texas, and Herbert could break out this year.
Foreman's current ADP is 146.4 on Sleeper and 168.7 on ESPN. Even in the 11th to 13th rounds of 10-14 team non-Superflex leagues, he shouldn't be a big draft target. The Bears will rotate through all three running backs in 2023 and Herbert will likely lead the way in Chicago's backfield.
