NFL MVP Power Rankings: Top 10 Candidates Ahead of Week 10

The NFL season is well underway, and the MVP race has begun to take shape. Which players have given themselves an early lead? Who has made a surprising push to the top 10? Drop your MVP prediction in the comments! Where did we go wrong? Let’s dive in!

Daniel Jones - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

No. 10 - Daniel Jones, IND

Daniel Jones had his worst showing of the season in Week 9, which will drop him to the No. 10 spot on this list. In their loss to the Steelers, Jones could not find much success, as he threw a season-high three interceptions with just one touchdown pass.

However, over the first eight games, Jones was the conductor of one of the top offensive units in the league, averaging 257.8 passing yards per game with a strong 17:3 TD:INT. Expect him to come back this weekend, finally, for the Atlanta Falcons.

Bo Nix - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL DFS Picks

No. 9 - Bo Nix, DEN

Bo Nix was not asked to do much in their Week 9 victory, but still got the job done. En route to defeating the Texans, Nix went 18-for-37 with 172 passing yards, two passing scores, and one turnover. He also added 36 yards on the ground.

While this was not his best offensive output, over his last four games leading up to Week 9, Nix averaged a strong 253.6 passing yards per game with a strong 13:2 TD:INT.

Justin Herbert - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

No. 8- Justin Herbert, LAC

Justin Herbert led the Chargers to another victory on Sunday. Facing the Tennessee Titans. Herbert lit up the score sheet, tallying three total touchdowns (two passing) with 307 total yards from scrimmage, with just one interception. While he has thrown four interceptions over his last three games, he has nine total touchdowns over this third quarter as well.

Herbert has flashed upside with his legs this season and is just one yard away from matching the 306 rushing yards he tallied during the 2024 campaign.

Baker Mayfield - Fantasy Football Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

No. 7 - Baker Mayfield, TB

Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers are coming off a much-needed bye week in Week 9. Entering this off week, the Buccaneers had numerous injuries on offense. In their Week 8 victory, this shorthanded group limited Mayfield’s production, as he threw for just 152 yards with no passing touchdowns.

While he has also thrown two passing touchdowns over his last two games, Mayfield tallied 12 touchdown passes with just one interception over his first six. Expect him to return to form once his wideouts return from injury.

Lamar Jackson - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

No. 6 - Lamar Jackson, BAL

Welcome back, Lamar Jackson. After missing time with a hamstring injury, the former MVP wasted little time to push himself up these rankings. In Week 9, Jackson led the Ravens to a critical victory over the Miami Dolphins to get back in the playoff picture.

In this victory, Jackson went 18-for-23 with 204 yards and four scores. With his legs, he added 14 yards. Before the injury, Jackson was enjoying similar elite production, tallying just over 250 total yards per game with 11 total TDs and just one turnover through 3.5 games, as he left Week 4 early with this injury.

Sam Darnold - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL DFS Picks

No 5 - Sam Darnold, SEA

Sam Darnold may have enjoyed his best start in the NFL on Sunday night. During their demanding victory over the Commanders, Darnold was near-perfect, going 21-for-24 with 330 passing yards and a 4:1 TD:INT. Through eight total games as a Seahawk, Darnold has silenced his doubters, averaging 260.5 passing yards per game with a 16:5 TD:INT.

Darnold’s ceiling could be even higher after the Seahawks acquired deep threat Rashid Shaheed prior to Tuesday’s trade deadline.

Matthew Stafford - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

No. 4 - Matthew Stafford, LAR

Matthew Stafford and the Rams continued to roll following their bye week. In Week 9, Stafford cruised to a victory over the Saints, going 24-for-32 for 281 yards and two touchdowns. This was his fifth straight game without throwing an interception.

During this dominant five-game run, Stafford has averaged an eye-catching 281.6 passing yards per game and has posted a 16:0 TD:INT. With Puka Nacua and Davante Adams lining up on the outside, Stafford is on pace to enjoy one of the best seasons of his legendary career. The Rams remain the top Super Bowl contenders with Stafford at the helm.

Drake Maye - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

No. 3 - Drake Maye, NE

The 23-year-old took a slight step back in Week 9 but still got the job done and led New England to another victory. En route to defeating the Falcons, Maye went 19-for-29 with 259 passing yards and a 2:1 TD:INT. On the ground, he added 20 yards. While he has thrown interceptions in back-to-back games, Maye has continued to put the ball in the end zone, despite not having elite playmakers in his WR room.

Since Week 6, Maye has scored 10 total touchdowns with just two interceptions. During this stretch, he has averaged 256.0 passing yards and 40.0 rushing yards per game.

Patrick Mahomes - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL DFS

No. 2 - Patrick Mahomes, KC

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ win streak came to an end on Sunday against the Bills, but he remains locked in at No. 2 on our list. In this loss, Mahomes had a bit of a down game, tallying just 250 passing yards and only five rushing yards.

Before this modest showing, Mahomes looked like his former MVP self. From Weeks 4 through 8, Mahomes averaged an eye-catching 315.0 total yards per game with 16 total TDs (14 passing) with just three interceptions.

Josh Allen - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

No. 1 - Josh Allen, BUF

Moving up to the top spot is Josh Allen. After typically losing to Mahomes, Allen was able to defeat the Chiefs this past week, which pushes him to the top spot. In this thrilling victory, Allen led the way, going 26-for-26 with 273 passing yards and more. On the ground, he punched in another two touchdowns on six carries.

This was a massive bounce-back showing, as he netted this game on a cold stretch. Over his previous three games, he was 1-2 with only 198.7 passing yards per game and an underwhelming 5:3 TD:INT (passing).
