This week the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series travels back to Michigan International Speedway for the second time in 2017 for the Pure Michigan 400 this Sunday. The track is a two-mile D-shaped oval and is the fastest track on the circuit as the average speed per lap exceeds 200 mph.
Kyle Larson comes in as the driver to beat if you are going off the last two races here as he has picked up the checkered flag in both. In June, he became the fourth driver in the last six races that have won the race from the pole position so track position and dominator points are going to be the main focus this week. Don't leave place differential out of the equation, however, as there have been at least three drivers with double-digit place differential in each of the last six races with seven in the June 2016 race and eight in the 2014 August race. With that, let's jump in and take a look at some of the top picks this week.
Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks - Pure Michigan 400
Brad Keselowski ($9,400)
He has yet to win here in his career but has been very consistent finishing Top 10 in six of his last seven here with three Top 10 finishes. He starts from the all mighty pole position and posted the second fastest speed in practice #2 and the fastest speed in final practice. He has a great shot to be the top dominator this week and pick up his first career win at Michigan.
Martin Truex Jr. ($10,600)
Truex has an up and down history here at MIS(6th, 20th, 12th, 3rd, 3rd last five) but looks to have a godo car this weekend. They will be starting 12th but continually got better through the weekend and posted the third fastest speed in final practice. GPP only as I don't think you have to pay up for the $10K+ drivers this week in cash games.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. ($7,900)
He has been a tough play all year with some disappointing finishes in his final season but he stands out this week as a top value in the mid-range. He starts 19th on Sunday and comes with some nice place differential upside posting the 6th fastest speed in both final practices.
Ty Dillon ($6,600)
My top value play this week is Ty Dillon starting back in the 33rd position. Not only did the #13 team improve the car through the final two practices(28th & 24th) but Ty has finished 24th or better in all three of his previous Michigan races in the Cup series.
