DFS Cheat Sheet

Game of the Day

Dallas Mavericks at Milwaukee Bucks

While there are perhaps other games that will see more points and some good plays, the game with the Mavs and Bucks is likely to garner the most attention.  Much of the reason for this attention is the players who will not be a part of this game, most notably Luka Doncic and Eric Bledsoe.

On the Dallas side, the loss of MVP candidate Doncic is likely to slow an offense that is number one in the NBA in offensive rating. Their offensive rating of 117.7 dropped to just 109.3 last game, but the loss of Doncic’s massive usage rate means plenty of fantasy value to go around.

Jalen Brunson was the main beneficiary last game with 34 minutes and an impressive 18 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. He should again see a heavy work load and seems like a solid cash game play.  Delon Wright and J.J. Barea also should see an uptick in production as they see usage bumps of 3.8% and 2.0% without Doncic this year.

Those players are all expected to see more minutes, but Kristaps Porzingis is the biggest beneficiary, ith a massive 7.7% usage bump without Doncic on the floor. The match-up with Giannis Antetokounmpo will be tough, but the Bucks can be exploited in a few areas.  Milwaukee is last in three-pointers allowed and 23rd in defensive rebounding, two areas Porzingis could dominate.

Also of note, Tim Hardaway Jr. had a huge work load last game after Doncic went out, and could get more shots up.

On the Milwaukee side, the team will be without Eric Bledsoe due to a leg injury. Unlike Dallas, there is no one individual who is a virtual lock to see more minutes or usage. Donte Divincenzo started last game with no Bledsoe and saw a healthy set of minutes. He also scores about 3.3 fantasy points per 36 minutes without Bledsoe on the floor and should be a nice cash game play.

Giannis is also a stellar play, posting a remarkable 70.4 fantasy points per 36 minutes without Bledsoe on the floor this season.  The only real concern with the Greek Freak is that without Doncic, the Mavs are likely to have a tougher time keeping this game close.

Other players who should be solid plays in this one, are Khris Middleton and George Hill.  Middleton actually sees the biggest usage bump without Bledsoe on the floor, and Hill should see the biggest minutes bump. With Dallas having no real glaring weaknesses on defense, sticking with the main contributors seems like the best plan of action.

If this game stays close there should be plenty of players who hit value on their prices, which have not fully adjusted to their teams injury concerns yet.

Fade of the Day

Kevin Love

When you see a big name like Kevin Love at a low price, it is often easy to just click his name and plug him into your lineups. You may want reconsider putting him in your lineup tonight in what should be a tough match-up.

Toronto continues to be an elite defensive team coming in at fourth in the NBA in defensive rating this season.  Much of that has to do with Pascal Siakam and Marc Gasol who lead a unit that is sixth in rebounding, ninth in blocks and top five in both three-pointers allowed and three-point defense.

With all of those areas in which Love needs to excel to hit value, tonight does not look like the night he will have one of his ceiling games.
