DFS Cheat Sheet

Game of the Day

Houston Rockets vs Miami Heat

The Houston Rockets and Miami Heat have both been pushing the pace this season. They rank first and seventh in the NBA in pace thus far. Houston also boasts an elite offense, while struggling defensively. It's no surprise this game features the highest Vegas total on the slate at 233.5 points.

Houston continues to make a solid offense to stack, as they run a short rotation. James Harden and Russell Westbrook are the focal points of the offense, boasting 39.9% and 27.7% usage ratings. Westbrook has been outlined in the Cheat Sheet, while Harden has flashed solid consistency this season. He has struggled from the field, shooting only 36.5% overall and 20% from beyond the arc. P.J. Tucker continues to be underpriced, as he's shooting a plethora of threes each game, while also finding ways to contribute peripheral stats. Clint Capela is another major part of the rotation, but his minutes haven't been consistent yet. He's a bit too expensive to be considered on this slate.

Danuel House and Eric Gordon are expected to find 30 minutes tonight. Gordon strictly focuses on scoring while on the court, limiting his upside with Harden and Westbrook ahead of him in the pecking order. House has a bit more versatility, and makes the better option for a lower price tag.

Miami is also running a short rotation at the minute. Jimmy Butler and Justise Winslow have found tremendous success this season, but they are each questionable tonight. If they are starting, they can be considered, although Winslow loses a bit of value with Butler in the lineup. If they are out, Kendrick Nunn will take over as the clear focal point of the offense. He's a solid option regardless, though, as Miami's scorers make great options tonight.

Bam Adebayo continues his breakout season, but this may not be the best matchup for him. While he can keep pace because of his athleticism, he isn't a huge scorer, and Houston games generally feature plenty of points. Goran Dragic and Tyler Herro are two solid scorers off the bench, who make great tournament options on this slate. Kelly Olynyk and Meyers Leonard can be considered because of the pace.

Fade of the Day

Buddy Hield

Hield has been struggling mightily through six games. He's averaging 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists (25.8 DK points) in 30.4 minutes per game. He's averaging only 0.85 DK points per minute. Hield has flashed upside, though, scoring 35+ DK points in 2 of his 6 games. With that being said, he's averaging only 20.1 DK points per game in his other 4 contests.

Hield gets a solid matchup on paper, but that hasn't been the case. The New York Knicks rank 8th in the NBA in fantasy points allowed to shooting guards. While Hield has flashed the potential to produce peripheral stats, he generally struggles in that category. This is an odd slate, where they are a plethora of elite stars and salary relief options. There's no reason to take a shot on Hield for his current price tag.
