2 hours agoHouston Texans offensive guard Kenyon Green (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in the team's preseason win over the New Orleans Saints last fall and spent the entire 2023 campaign on Injured Reserve. It was an injury that Green had been dealing with since May. The 23-year-old has since made great progress and was participating at organized team activities last week. "Kenyon has done a really great job of putting himself in a position to compete," head coach DeMeco Ryans said. "He did a great job of working throughout the offseason. We know he had the surgery last season, so he was battling back, rehabbing." Green started 14 of 15 games as a rookie in 2022 and allowed 47 pressures, 31 hurries, 12 QB hits and five sacks at left guard while playing through a knee injury. Now healthy, the former first-rounder will have a chance this summer to reclaim his starting role.

3 hours agoCarolina Panthers outside linebacker Amare Barno (knee) finished last year on Injured Reserve and missed the final two games of the regular season, but he's progressing nicely and was limited in organized team activities last week, according to head coach Dave Canales. "The reports we're getting are great, so he's trending in the right direction. I don't have a specific date, but he is out there working and he's got his cleats on doing stuff, so I'm looking forward to getting him back up to speed so we can get him back in a practice at some point," Canales said. Barno saw an 11% increase in defensive snaps in 2023 and even made his first career start, finishing with 21 tackles and one tackle for loss in 15 games played. The 25-year-old is likely to serve as depth at the linebacker position again this year for Carolina.

Ja'Marr Chase are both not present for voluntary organized team activities on Tuesday as they seek new deals this offseason. Higgins has yet to sign his franchise tender for this year, so until he does, he will not be allowed to participate in offseason workouts with the team. The 25-year-old requested a trade from the Bengals when the team put the franchise tag on him just before the start of free agency in March, but he remains in Cincinnati for now as he angles for a new long-term deal. It's an offseason storyline to follow for fantasy managers after Higgins had an extremely disappointing 2023 campaign. It didn't help that quarterback
Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury, but Higgins was also injured himself and finished with a career-low 42 catches for 656 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games.

Ja'Marr Chase wasn't present for voluntary organized team activities on Tuesday. Chase is heading into the fourth year of his rookie deal after the team picked up his fifth-year option for the 2025 season back in April. The 24-year-old is slated to make $5 million in 2024 and remains one of the best all-around receivers in the game. His absence during voluntary offseason workouts shouldn't raise too many eyebrows, although it would be nice to see him working with quarterback
Joe Burrow after Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury in 2023. Chase is unlikely to stage a long holdout into mandatory minicamp next month and training camp this summer, and he and the Bengals should eventually work out something long term that should make him one of, if not the highest, paid receiver in the NFL.

The 2018 first-round pick reportedly weighed a lot more than the 347 pounds he was listed out last season, and the team believes it hampered his play in 2023. Buccaneers defense line coach Kacy Rodgers said Vea "looks a lot different," and the team wants him to go from being "good" to "dominant." Over his first six NFL seasons, Vea has racked up 180 tackles (111 solo), 23.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, six pass deflections, and 23.5 run stuffs. He is a one-time Pro Bowler (2021).

1 day agoNFL veteran center and former Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick Billy Price has announced his retirement, according to NFL.com. The 29-year-old cites health risks stemming from a recently discovered blood clot as the reason he is hanging up his cleats after six NFL seasons. "On April 24th I had emergency pulmonary embolism surgery to remove a saddle clot that was entering both of my lungs. As a healthy 29-year-old, an unprovoked pulmonary embolism with no further medical explanation is terrifying. I am truly thankful to be alive today," Price wrote on Instagram. "Unfortunately, I will be retiring from the NFL as the risk of an internal bleed while on blood thinners creates tremendous risk." Price played in 69 games (45 starts) for the Bengals, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals after a stellar collegiate career at Ohio State.

Brandon McManus and the Jacksonville Jaguars, alleging that McManus sexually assaulted them during the team's overseas flight to London last year, according to court documents. The lawsuit was filed on Friday and accuses McManus of rubbing himself against them and grinding against them. The two women are also accusing the Jaguars of failing to supervise McManus and failing to create a safe environment for staff serving the team. They are seeking over $1 million and are demanding a jury trial. The 32-year-old veteran signed a one-year, $3.6 million deal with the Washington Commanders this offseason, but he could now be facing a suspension to begin the 2024 season. In 17 games for the Jaguars in 2023, McManus made 81.1% of his 37 field-goal attempts and was successful on all 35 of his extra-point tries.

1 day agoWashington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (knee) has been participating in the team's organized team activities this spring and has been extremely happy with the team's new regime change in the front office and on the sidelines. Allen said months ago that he didn't want to be part of another rebuild, but the long-time defensive captain is thrilled with how things are unfolding under new general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. Following Pro Bowl nods in 2021 and 2022, Allen had 53 tackles (30 solo), 5.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 19 QB hits in 16 starts. The 29-year-old former 17th overall pick in 2017 out of Alabama has no more guaranteed money left on his deal, which has two years remaining. It's unclear how Allen's role on defense might change in 2024 under Quinn.

1 day agoDetroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn said second-year linebacker Jack Campbell has taken control of the offseason the way he should. Glenn called Campbell a "grown man" with the way he's approaching things as a true Mike linebacker. After the team tinkered with his positional versatility in 2023, the Lions seem to want him to settle in as their middle linebacker moving forward. Campbell was drafted with the 18th overall pick last year out of Iowa and finished his first year in the NFL with 95 tackles (52 solo), two sacks and five tackles for loss in 17 regular-season games (12 starts). The 23-year-old was in the starting lineup for 11 of the team's final 12 games and should continue to see a bigger role for Detroit's D heading into his second season.

1 day agoIt sounds as though Detroit Lions defensive back Brian Branch (leg) will be out until training camp, at the very least. Head coach Dan Campbell said that Branch had a clean-up surgery for an injury they thought would heal on its own, but the Lions decided they'd rather just get it done and let Branch heal before the season. He was spotted riding a scooter around the facility during organized team activities last week. The 22-year-old cornerback is progressing well despite the fact that he wasn't available to take part in OTAs this spring. In his rookie campaign in 2023 for the Lions, Branch looked pretty good, recording 74 tackles (50 solo), one sack, three interceptions, 13 passes defended and a forced fumble that resulted in a touchdown.

1 day agoNew England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon (biceps) is back to full health this offseason and is expected to take part in the team's mandatory minicamp in June after he tore his biceps early last year before having season-ending surgery. Barring a setback in minicamp and in training camp and the preseason, the 31-year-old veteran appears to be on track to be ready for the start of the 2024 season. And if he's fully healthy all year, Judon should be on the IDP fantasy radar after he racked up a career-high 15.5 sacks to go along with 60 tackles (36 solo) in 17 games (15 starts) in 2022. Judon was a Pro Bowler in four straight seasons from 2019-22 and had a combined 28 sacks, 74 solo tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 53 QB hits, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 2021 and 2022.
