Wade Meckler Back In Two-Hole In Second Big-League Game
1 year agoSan Francisco Giants rookie outfielder Wade Meckler is starting in center field and hitting second on Tuesday against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Zack Littell. Meckler made his big-league debut on Monday and finished 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts, so he'll still be looking for his first major-league hit on Tuesday. The 23-year-old was an eighth-round selection just last year, but he's already listed as the team's No. 11 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Meckler tore it up at three different minor-league levels this year to earn his first big-league call-up, and he should continue to see regular playing time in the Giants outfield, at least until Mike Yastrzemski (hamstring) returns from the injured list.
