Tyler Nevin Sidelined Indefinitely With Oblique Strain
2 years agoDetroit Tigers corner infielder Tyler Nevin (oblique) has been sidelined indefinitely at spring training with a left oblique strain. The 25-year-old will start baseball activities once his symptoms subside. The Tigers haven't revealed the grade of his strain or a timetable for his return, only announcing it as a "mild" strain. He has hit .211 (4-for-19) with two home runs, no walks and four strikeouts in seven Grapefruit League games to this point, seeing most of playing time at first and third base. Nevin's injury almost certainly puts him out of the mix for an Opening Day roster spot. When healthy, Nevin figures to be a platoon player for Detroit at both first and third base. He'll be an option mainly in AL-only leagues for his positional versatility.
