Trenton Cannon Turning Heads In Camp
New York Jets rookie running back Trenton Cannon has been turning heads in training camp with his speed and was one of the stars in a scrimmage at Rutgers, running for 50 yards on 10 carries with two catches for 13 yards. He has become the leading candidate for the No. 3 job with Elijah McGuire out with a broken foot. Cannon was a sixth-round pick that could also factor in on special teams as a kick returner. He ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. “That dude’s fast,” linebacker Darron Lee said. “He might be a buck eighty on a good day, but that dude is fast. You better make sure you get the edge on him because he’s got some wiggle to him, too. It’s more than just straight-line speed. I like his work ethic.” For now, Cannon is just a name to keep an eye on in dynasty and deeper leagues.
