Tomas Nido Reinstated From Injured List, Gary Sanchez DFA'd
2 years agoThe New York Mets reinstated catcher Tomas Nido (eye) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and designated catcher Gary Sanchez for assignment in a corresponding move. Nido missed some time with vision issues, but apparently he's fixed them and is ready face big-league pitching again. Omar Narvaez (calf) is nearing a return from his injured-list stint as well, so for now, Nido will split playing time behind the plate in Queens with youngster Francisco Alvarez. The 29-year-old Nido offers very little fantasy-wise in the deepest of leagues with a .213 career average and only 13 home runs in seven big-league seasons. Sanchez is likely to join Triple-A Syracuse after going 1-for-6 with an RBI and three strikeouts in three games played for the Mets.
