Tejay Antone Healthy In Camp
10 months agoCincinnati Reds relief pitcher Tejay Antone (elbow) is going through a normal spring training this year for the first time in three years. Antone had Tommy John surgery in 2021 and had multiple setbacks since, including one before last season. He also dealt with elbow tendinitis that put him on the injured list at the end of 2023. The 30-year-old right-hander is in camp trying to win a spot in Cincy's bullpen this spring after making just five appearances out of the bullpen for the team last year. Antone debuted in the major leagues with the Reds in the shortened 2020 season but has only thrown 74 2/3 innings over 41 appearances (five starts) in that time, posting a strong 2.41 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with three saves, 31 walks and 94 strikeouts. He has the stuff to be a high-leverage reliever, but expect the Reds to ease him in if he makes the Opening Day bullpen.
