Rob Gronkowski Likely To Play Against Patriots
3 years agoX-rays on Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski's ribs on Monday came back negative, according to sources. As a result, Gronkowski is likely to play against his old team, the New England Patriots, in a Sunday night showdown in Week 4. Gronk came back down to Earth a bit in the Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, catching four passes for 55 yards, but he was tied for second on the team with seven targets despite leaving the game and heading to the locker room. The 32-year-old has had at least five targets in all three games to begin the year and remains one of Tom Brady's favorite red-zone targets. The Patriots defense has allowed only four receptions for 27 yards to tight ends through three games, but Gronkowski should remain heavily involved and will be a midrange TE1 as long as he doesn't suffer a setback during practice this week.
