Reese McGuire Eyeing Rehab Assignment Next Week
1 year agoThe target date for Boston Red Sox catcher Reese McGuire (oblique) to begin a minor-league rehab assignment is around next Tuesday, July 25. McGuire has been slowly recovering from a right-oblique strain that he suffered on June 21 against the Minnesota Twins, but he was able to resume baseball activities on July 6. In any event, he's getting close to returning to backup duties behind Connor Wong in Boston. At the moment, Jorge Alfaro is serving as the Red Sox's backup backstop. McGuire will return to a .267/.313/.352 slash line with no home runs, nine doubles, 11 RBI and 11 runs scored in 116 trips to the plate over 40 games in his first full season in Beantown.
