Yadong showed versatility to his overall game as he defeated Gutierrez by unanimous decision. He swept Gutierrez on the scorecards, earning two 50-45, 50-45, and even a 50-44 for five rounds of superior striking and grappling. In 25 minutes of action, Yadong landed two takedowns and 77 significant strikes. 5 months agoIt was not the return Chris Gutierrez would have hoped for. He took a tough decision loss of 44-50, 45-50, and 45-50 on the judges' scorecards. In 25 minutes of action, he landed 87 significant strikes. Gutierrez entered the fight on Saturday ranked 15th in the division. In his last fight, Gutierrez defeated Alateng Heili via unanimous decision in October and had been victorious in five of his last six outings. 5 months agoThe losses are starting to roll in for Su Mudaerji after his three-fight winning streak. He suffered a first-round armbar loss to Tim Elliott at UFC Fight Night 233 on Saturday. Mudaerji has now lost back-to-back bouts via submission. Despite being the rangier fighter, Mudaerji had a tough time getting a bead on Elliott. Elliott managed to take Mudaerji down and punish him with a couple of elbows until Elliott passed into side control where he set up a beautiful arm triangle choke. Elliott was filling in for an injured Allan Nascimento so the fight was contested in the bantamweight division. In a swift turnaround, Elliott, coming off a defeat to Muhammad Mokaev at UFC 294 in October, seized the chance for redemption against Mudaerji. During a scramble towards the end of the first round, Elliott locked up a tight arm-triangle choke and made Mudaerji spit up his blood before passing out. 5 months agoIn a closely contested middleweight showdown on Saturday, Jun Yong Park was on the wrong side of a split-decision announcement after his fight with Andre Muniz. Though he had his moments in this fight, Park was unable to do enough in 15 minutes of action to earn a victory (28-29, 29-28, 28-29). 5 months agoAndre Muniz snapped his two-fight losing streak with a controversial split decision win over Jun Yong Park at UFC Vegas 83 on Saturday. Muniz was outstruck 20-to-10 in the first round but had over three minutes of control time. In the second round, Muniz was able to get over four minutes of control but didn't do much damage. The Brazilian then struggled in the third round getting outstruck 16-to-4 in the third round. Despite being outstruck 52-to-35 and outstruck in two of the three rounds, the control was enough to get the win. With the victory, Muniz is now 6-2 in the UFC.Source: UFC
5 months agoJamie Mullarkey suffered a first-round knockout loss to Nasrat Haqparast at UFC Vegas 83 on Saturday. Mullarkey was coming off a controversial decision win over John Makdessi back in September to return to the win column. Mullarkey didn't have much for Haqparast as he was outstruck early and got dropped by a big punch. Although he was able to get back to his feet, Haqparast landed another big shot that dropped Mullarkey and the ref stepped in to stop the fight. With the loss, Mullarkey dropped 5-5 in the UFC and has been finished in three of those losses.Source: UFC

Haqparast started strong landing some good shots, then out of nowhere landed a massive punch that dropped Mullarkey. After landing some good shots, Mullarkey got back to his feet, but Haqparast immediately sent him back down with a punch, forcing the ref to stop it. With the victory, Haqparast is now on a three-fight win streak and 8-4 in the UFC.Source: UFC
5 months agoAnthony Smith suffered a third-round knockout loss to Khalil Rountree in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 83. Smith outstruck Rountree 23-to-21 in the first round but was getting hit by the harder strikes. Rountree began picking up the pace in the second round and outstruck Smith 25-to-24. Early in the third round, Smith was hit by an uppercut to a left hook which sent him to the canvas and the ref stopped it. With the loss, Smith is now 1-3 in his last four and 12-9 in the UFC.Source: UFC

Rountree and Smith were competitive on the feet, but as the fight played out, Rountree was starting to land the better shots.
