Nathan Peterman Listed As Backup QB In Chicago
1 year agoChicago Bears quarterback Nathan Peterman, not rookie Tyson Bagent, will serve as the backup signal-caller to open the 2023 regular season behind starter Justin Fields, according to the team's official depth chart released in advance of Week 1 against the division-rival Green Bay Packers this Sunday. The 29-year-old Peterman was initially cut when the Bears cut down to 53 players last Tuesday, but he was later re-signed to the active roster. The Bears are carrying Fields, Peterman and Bagent on the active roster. Bagent is the only Division II QB to make a 53-man roster in the NFL. Peterman has two years worth of knowledge of Chicago's offense and earned his way into the role behind Fields this year.
