Michael Harris II 2024 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Floor Established, Boosters Engaged
12 months agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Michel Harris II won NL Rookie of the Year in 2022 after an impressive inaugural campaign that saw him hit .297-19-64-75-20 over 114 games. In 2023, Harris reminded us all that the baseball season is a marathon and not a sprint. He started 5-for-23 (.217), then missed 19 games in April due to a back injury, and upon his return, proceeded to hit just .167 (14-for-84) in May. The lefty caught fire in June, though, hitting .372 (35-for-94) for the month, and – as they say – the rest is history. His final line was .293-18-57-76-20, strikingly similar to his ROY season. This should give fantasy managers some comfort, knowing that no matter the ups and downs, at the end of 2024, we should expect a floor similar to his first two seasons in the bigs. If that's the floor, then there is room for upside here. The speedster didn't steal a single base last September, while he stole four bags on average every month prior. He spent most of his season at the bottom of the order and usually right in front of Acuna, so that could have been the reason for not stealing as much. However, early 2024 lineup projections have the 22-year-old in the six-hole, which could free him up for more stolen bases, RBI, and runs opportunities. FGDC projects him for a .291-25-92-89-24 season, with a .353 WOBA and 121 wRC+. It'll cost you, though, as his NFBC ADP has him going around 37th overall. RotoBaller has him ranked fairly at 46th overall, so if he drops to you there, scoop him up!
