Luis Guillorme Expected To Be Recalled
2 years agoWith New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) likely landing on the injured list on Friday, infielder Luis Guillorme is traveling to Pittsburgh to meet up with the team. It appears that he will be the corresponding move for when Alonso officially goes on the injured list. Guillorme will serve as a utility infielder for the Mets for the time being with Alonso missing some time. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter has played in 27 games for the Mets in 2023 and is hitting .233 (14-for-60) with two doubles, no homers and three RBI in 68 trips to the plate. He's more useful for his glove than his bat, as he has a .264/.351/.328 career slash line with only four home runs and 42 RBI in six big-league seasons.
